Sailimu Lake is an absolutely divine attraction in Yili. Once you visit, you'll understand the true blue of Tarim Lake. We spent two days driving around the entire area, stopping wherever we went to rest. It was truly a wonderful experience, especially if you're driving yourself. It's truly the best choice and I highly recommend it. I especially recommend bringing a drone with you if you visit Sailimu Lake; the photos it captures are truly unparalleled. Several of my accompanying photos were taken with a drone, and they're truly stunning.
The scenery of Sailimu Lake is worth seeing. I have already visited it twice. It has different beauty in every season. I will come again next time. I want to see Sailimu Lake in the snow in winter.

First of all, the scenic area is incredibly large. We opted for a self-drive ticket, entered the parking lot, and boarded a scenic shuttle bus to Flower Terrace and Falcon Terrace. The grassland scenery along the way was breathtaking, and the several photo stops were new to us Suzhou residents. It was truly stunning! Taking the kids horseback riding and hiking, soaking in the natural beauty, alleviated the anxiety of the city's fast pace and allowed me to slow down and experience the world. After a round of touring, we discovered a camping area with a teahouse at the horseback riding station, perfect for a break, some snacks, and some hot tea with friends. It was a beautiful experience!
Kalajun was just as described online; it was generally enjoyable, with the hike from Flower Terrace to Falcon Terrace being the most interesting. But honestly, Kalajun, the King of Grasslands, was definitely a pleasant experience. Having visited Bayinbuluke, Nalati, and finally Kalajun, I can speak for myself. Overall, it was quite good!

It's worth staying overnight. The scenic area is large, but the core is in Zhonggou and the Qimengde Observation Deck. The spruce forest is spectacular! The Qiafuqi Lake on the way is also worth stopping to check in. It is very blue.
While reaching the Qimengde Observation Deck isn't easy, it's definitely worth the trip! Kurdenin is still breathtaking in August! Spruce trees, snow-capped mountains, blue skies, white clouds, and the sight of cattle and horses everywhere—it's truly spectacular!

We all came here to watch the Heavenly Horses Bathing in the River. There seemed to be about a hundred of them running majestically, but the distance they ran was quite short, only six times in total. They were so fast at grabbing sheep that the show was over just as we reached the front of the performance venue.
It's very nice. After watching the Tianma Bathing in the River performance, you can go to the Tianma Cultural Park through the Rainbow Bridge. The scenery along the way is beautiful, and you can also watch equestrian performances and various famous horses for free, which is worth the ticket price.

A base for those who pull onions from dry land. 🤭
It's off-season now, so there aren't many people around. The horseback riding lasted a long time, two hours straight. My butt was sore from sitting, but it was such a joy.
The natural scenery is quite nice, with beautiful views of forests, streams, and grasslands—everything you could imagine. You can ride horseback and sightseeing buses, and it's not too tiring. The entrance fee is also quite reasonable. Drive to the ticket gate and then continue a bit further into the mountains to the parking lot.
Near the parking lot, there are a lot of loudspeaker ads advertising promotions for filming "grazing onions" (likely referring to a game) in the dry land, which makes it a bit cluttered, but it's not bad at all.

The grasslands are vast, and the grass should be greener in May, June, and July, but it's a bit yellow in August. The cost of clothing for filming at the scenic spots is high, but the price/performance ratio is not high. Horseback riding is also available, but the cattle on the grasslands produce a lot of organic fertilizer, so be careful. I recommend Hansai for accommodation.
