The Taihang Grand Canyon is divided into three parts: Taohua Valley, Taihang Sky Road, and Wangxiang Rock. The first two are together, and the latter is a few kilometers away, but both belong to the area of Shibanyan Town. The scenery along the way in Taohua Valley is nice, with waterfalls and streams basically every few steps. The mountains and rivers are beautiful. Except for the first section, you need to climb down the mountain. The road behind is very flat. Then take the free scenic shuttle bus to take the Taihang Sky Road. The three stops are very photogenic, especially the Dream Valley Viewing Square at the top. You can take the scenic shuttle bus all the way to the exit when you go down the mountain. The next day, we started climbing Wangxiang Rock. It is a purely leg-based attraction, especially the stairs in the front section, which has more than 2,000 steps and is very steep. After walking the cliff plank road, it becomes flat and much easier. The scenery along the way is pretty good. After passing through the forest, we arrived at Yangtian Pond. Due to the lack of water, the waterfall has a small flow. Continuing to climb the famous spiral staircase is another test of physical strength. If you like climbing, you may wish to give it a try. Since it is the off-season just after the start of school and before National Day, the experience at this time is still very good.
It had just rained the day we entered the Taihang Grand Canyon from the Red Flag Canal. A reminder: children also need tickets! But there are no half-price tickets for children on Ctrip! So, it's pretty useless. If you bring your children and book adult tickets online, you'll have to go to the ticket counter to buy child tickets. Also, some e-tickets need to be exchanged for paper tickets. It feels really low-brow! The entire scenic area doesn't have many artifacts, which is probably due to Cao Cao's frugal nature. You still have to hire a guide, otherwise it's just a waste of time!
I gave it a 5-point rating because it was small, the experience was wonderful, and the staff were very helpful. Cao Cao's Gao Mausoleum was unearthed in Xigaoxue Village, formerly known as Gaojue Village. The village road is quite narrow, widening only at the entrance to the mausoleum. As a child, I read the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and admired Zhuge Liang and Guan Yu. As I grew older, my love for Cao Cao deepened. Before my visit, I read the book "Cao Cao Buried Here," which gave me a deeper understanding of Cao Cao. After my visit, I compared the records in the book and searched for historical relics one by one, from the tomb's robbery holes to the traces of the sarcophagus in the side chamber, from the gui-shaped stone plaques to the neck-comforting stones, from the ear-shaped cups to the weapons. Of course, it would have been best if we hadn't found the three human skeletons; I heard they're in a museum in Zhengzhou. Suddenly, I felt a wave of sadness. Cao Cao, a great hero, was criticized and slandered thousands of years after his death, yet his remains were not only not preserved intact, but also not even in his own mausoleum. In the Three Kingdoms, Cao Cao said, "I would rather betray the world than let the world betray me." For more than a thousand years, it was the people of the world who let him down.
