I was a little nervous at first about traveling with my father to Xinjiang, as he's 84 years old. But our driver, Mr. Deng, was incredibly gracious and welcomed us. He enthusiastically expressed his honor at taking someone of his age on a trip for the first time, which put our minds at ease. Throughout the eight days, Mr. Deng constantly monitored my father's well-being and is a truly caring person. Our entire family is deeply grateful to him! The scenery in Xinjiang is absolutely breathtaking, and the elderly enjoyed themselves thoroughly. The hotel arrangements were excellent, with new and clean facilities, and everyone we met along the way was incredibly kind. We'll definitely be back!

I didn't include Kalajun in my itinerary at first, but I happened to encounter the accident in Xiata, so I slowed down my trip and went to the nearby Kalajun. I found it was really worth it. The Mysterious Tianshan Grand Canyon (also known as the Kezilya Grand Canyon) is located 64 kilometers north of Kuqa City, Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is a National AAAA-level tourist attraction renowned for its unique red sandstone formations and precipitous canyon scenery.
Location
The scenic area lies at the southern foot of the Tianshan Mountains, extending in a north-south arc. Its average elevation is 1,600 meters, with its highest peak reaching 2,048 meters. The main canyon is approximately 3.7 kilometers long and comprises over 50 tributaries, covering a total area of approximately 25 square kilometers.
Landscape Features
Landform Features: Formed by red sandstone from the Cretaceous Period of the Mesozoic Era through millions of years of wind erosion and flooding, the rocks are ochre or red, and feature a variety of forms, including castles, palaces, and animals.
Major Attractions: Over 40 scenic spots, including the Divine Dog Guarding the Valley (where the black rocks on the cliffs change color with temperature), the Kamikaze Cave (where you can experience a cool breeze in summer), and the A'ai Grottoes. Cultural Value: Selected as one of China's Ten Most Beautiful Canyons in 2005, it was designated a National AAAA-level scenic spot in 2009.

This was my first time to visit the Kuqa Palace. Although it was very hot, I climbed up to the palace's observation deck and felt very comfortable with the breeze blowing through the pavilion. I also visited the princess's room and read the exhibition introduction, which was very meaningful.
This is a replica of an ancient building, featuring living princesses and princesses born after 2000, where you can take photos.

The transportation is convenient. There is a through bus next to the train station to the entrance of the scenic area. There is a scenic shuttle bus in the scenic area. It's very nice. After watching the Tianma Bathing in the River performance, you can go to the Tianma Cultural Park through the Rainbow Bridge. The scenery along the way is beautiful, and you can also watch equestrian performances and various famous horses for free, which is worth the ticket price.

The natural scenery is quite nice, with beautiful views of forests, streams, and grasslands—everything you could imagine. You can ride horseback and sightseeing buses, and it's not too tiring. The entrance fee is also quite reasonable. Drive to the ticket gate and then continue a bit further into the mountains to the parking lot.
Near the parking lot, there are a lot of loudspeaker ads advertising promotions for filming "grazing onions" (likely referring to a game) in the dry land, which makes it a bit cluttered, but it's not bad at all.
Shot with an original Apple camera, no filter. These grasslands are among the first to turn green in Xinjiang. Perfect for a visit in May or June. Absolutely beautiful, just sitting and staring at them is a wonderful way to relax. We went on May Day, and during peak season, it's essential to go early in the morning. When we left around 2:00 p.m., there was an 11-kilometer traffic jam on the other side. Those who aren't as energetic can hike up or down on horseback for a different view.
