It was my first time in Changsha, and I chose to go to the Hunan Provincial Museum first. I saw the Mawangdui Han Tomb exhibits that I had only seen on TV before. The tour guide Xiao Xiao was very responsible and patient, and the explanation was very detailed. It was a great experience.
Today's visit to the Hunan Provincial Museum completely exceeded our expectations, thanks to our docent, Xiao Xiao. Instead of simply reading from a script, she brought the artifacts to life with vivid details. When discussing the brocade robes from the Mawangdui Han Tomb, she remarked, "Nobles over 2,000 years ago wore such lightweight, 'haute couture' garments." She spoke with impeccable speed and passion throughout, ensuring we didn't feel overwhelmed by information or miss any of the remarkable stories. At the end, she even shared many of her own photos. Her professional and engaging explanations allowed us to not only see the artifacts themselves, but also understand the history and culture behind them. If you visit the Hunan Provincial Museum, be sure to experience this unforgettable experience with Xiao Xiao.

A large park around the river. In addition to enjoying the breeze by the river, you can also see the large statue of Mao Zedong! It's a long way to get in from the subway, and the round trip bus cost 40 yuan, which is not cost-effective! I can only say that if you have nothing to do and have time, it's okay to take a walk if you like to exercise.
The night view is stunning. The light show makes it look bustling and prosperous.
We took the train. It wasn't crowded. Most people went to see the giant statue of Chairman Mao.
We enjoyed the breeze from the Xiang River. The view was also expansive.
It's a shame our stay was short. We didn't get to see every scene in detail.

1. Shan Lake: Fir trees grow along the banks of Shan Lake, and the Sun and Moon Towers stand tall in the lake. The Sun Tower is a bronze tower located in the center of the lake, connected by an underwater aquarium. All its components are cast from steel and decorated with exquisite bronze murals. It is the tallest bronze tower in the world, the tallest copper building in the world, and the tallest underwater tower in the world.
2. Rong Lake: Banyan trees grow along the banks of Rong Lake. The Beidou Bridge in the lake connects the center island in the east and the ancient South Gate in the west. The bridge's shape and direction are based on the distribution of the Big Dipper, hence the name Beidou Bridge. The bridge deck and railings are made entirely of white marble, making it the longest white marble bridge in Guangxi. 3. Guihu Lake: Originally the moat of Guilin City during the Song Dynasty, Guihu Lake is now an exposition park showcasing renowned trees, flowers, herbs, gardens, and bridges. The lakeside boasts numerous scenic spots, including the Palm Garden and the Magnolia Garden. On October 22, 2025, at 7:50 PM, I boarded the Shuiyun Guohu boat, enjoying the scenic beauty of the two rivers and four lakes, as well as the famous bridges and mountains along the way. I also got a close-up look at the Guihu Fishing Fire Show, including the osprey fishing show, the elegant rhythm of the Song Dynasty, the half-zither falling moon, and the light and shadow performances on the ancient city walls. I truly felt the essence of Guilin's landscape, where "the city is in the scenery, and the scenery is in the city," and fully enjoyed the dazzling charm of Guilin at night.

Upstairs, there's a video of Du Fu's poem "Meeting Li Guinian Again in Jiangnan," which brought me to tears. "Often seen at Prince Qi's residence, heard many times before Cui Jiu's hall. It is indeed a beautiful scene in Jiangnan, meeting you again in the season of falling flowers." Ultimately, he died far from home, never returning to his native soil. Memories of the Li River Scenery
This time, I chose the Ctrip-themed cruise ship "Y0Y0 Happy Cruise," departing from Zhujiang Wharf in Guilin and sailing to Longtoushan Wharf in Yangshuo, a journey of about 4 hours. Following the guide, I enjoyed the scenery along the way; the landscape before my eyes was like a series of vivid landscape paintings. I finally experienced firsthand the charm of "Guilin's scenery is the best under heaven," and understood many famous scenic spots.
1. What's hidden in Yangdi's scenery?
Yangdi is the first scenic area after the Li River flows into Yangshuo. Here, both banks are lined with uniquely shaped peaks, and the bamboo along the river is lush and verdant. Sailing downstream, lifelike mountain landscapes such as Embroidered Mountain Walls, Carp Hanging on the Walls, and Children Worshipping Guanyin come into view, as if stepping into a flowing landscape painting. Occasionally, wisps of smoke rise from the mountain villages, cormorants busily fish in the water, splashing water everywhere, and cattle and sheep bleat and moo on the mountains, creating a vibrant and wild atmosphere.
2. Can you really see nine horses at Nine Horses Painting Mountain?
That magnificent cliff, hundreds of meters high, is the famous Nine Horses Painting Mountain. The "nine horses" on the cliff are not real horses, but rather natural patterns and colors formed by the rocks. How many horses you can see depends entirely on the time of day, angle, weather, and whether you have a detailed guide. Most people can usually only see 3 to 5. A folk song goes: "Horse watcher, horse watcher, how many pairs of horses are there? Seeing seven makes you a runner-up, seeing nine makes you a champion."

We went in early August during summer vacation. It was quite crowded, so the line was understandably long.
However, some travelers were smoking and shirtless while waiting in line, which really ruined the experience. If you see this review, I hope it will be improved.
Want another review? Haha. I have to climb it once a year. Mountains, meadows, sea of clouds, there's no better place. We usually go down the mountain after watching the sunset, so we don't have time to take the cable car. What mountain climbing doesn't hurt your legs? If you don't hurt your legs, you're not a special forces soldier. Just do it.
