Haiyang Township, Lingchuan County, Guilin is a famous ginkgo town, with many ginkgo trees planted in various villages and along the roads. Among them, the more famous ginkgo viewing villages include: Datongmuwan Village, Xiaotongmuwan Village, Huamei Nong Village, etc. The combination of ancient houses and century-old ginkgo trees is very good for taking pictures.
Choice of village: Generally speaking, there are fewer people in the villages in the mountains, which is easier to take pictures, but it is more troublesome to move forward, so it is best to drive by yourself. Datongmuwan Village, Xiaotongmuwan Village and other villages have convenient transportation and more people. It is best to travel during off-peak hours on weekdays.
Fees: At present, many villages will charge garbage disposal fees and other fees for entering the village. Only after paying the fees can you enter the village to take pictures.
Tips: It is recommended to pay attention to the time when the ginkgo leaves turn yellow every year and choose the right time to travel.
On Sunday, December 6, 2020, my friends and I took a bus to the Ginkgo Scenic Area in Datongmuwan Village, Haiyang Township, Lingchuan County, Guilin. We took the urban-rural bus 306 from Guilin City to Dayu Town, transferred to the rural minibus to the Haiyang Township Market, and then walked about one kilometer to the Ginkgo Scenic Area in Datongmuwan Village. The entrance ticket to the village was 20 yuan, and then we strolled around the village to admire the ginkgo.

I had a lot of fun. The things in the scenic area are very cost-effective and not too expensive. The fruits are very sweet, especially the coconut milk. You must try it. Memories of the Li River Scenery
This time, I chose the Ctrip-themed cruise ship "Y0Y0 Happy Cruise," departing from Zhujiang Wharf in Guilin and sailing to Longtoushan Wharf in Yangshuo, a journey of about 4 hours. Following the guide, I enjoyed the scenery along the way; the landscape before my eyes was like a series of vivid landscape paintings. I finally experienced firsthand the charm of "Guilin's scenery is the best under heaven," and understood many famous scenic spots.
1. What's hidden in Yangdi's scenery?
Yangdi is the first scenic area after the Li River flows into Yangshuo. Here, both banks are lined with uniquely shaped peaks, and the bamboo along the river is lush and verdant. Sailing downstream, lifelike mountain landscapes such as Embroidered Mountain Walls, Carp Hanging on the Walls, and Children Worshipping Guanyin come into view, as if stepping into a flowing landscape painting. Occasionally, wisps of smoke rise from the mountain villages, cormorants busily fish in the water, splashing water everywhere, and cattle and sheep bleat and moo on the mountains, creating a vibrant and wild atmosphere.
2. Can you really see nine horses at Nine Horses Painting Mountain?
That magnificent cliff, hundreds of meters high, is the famous Nine Horses Painting Mountain. The "nine horses" on the cliff are not real horses, but rather natural patterns and colors formed by the rocks. How many horses you can see depends entirely on the time of day, angle, weather, and whether you have a detailed guide. Most people can usually only see 3 to 5. A folk song goes: "Horse watcher, horse watcher, how many pairs of horses are there? Seeing seven makes you a runner-up, seeing nine makes you a champion."
3. Is comparing a 20 RMB note to the mountain peak enough?
The image on the back of the 20 RMB note is a photograph of the Yellow Cloth Reflection in the Li River. Simply comparing the shapes of the mountain peaks isn't enough; the key is to look at the two core elements: the "yellow cloth" and the "reflection." There are two interpretations of the "yellow cloth": one is that the yellow sand deposited at the bottom of the river resembles a large yellow cloth; the other is that there's a flat, large yellow stone slab at the bottom of the river, like a yellow cloth spread out. The "reflection" is most beautiful when the river is wide and the water is clear and calm. Peaks like Yuanbao Peak and Chaoban Mountain, along with the verdant bamboo along the banks, will be clearly reflected in the water, creating a harmonious blend of mountains and water that makes it difficult to distinguish reality from illusion.
4. Just how amazing is the Li River scenery?
The Li River is a typical karst landscape, and its scenic characteristics can be summarized in four words: clear, unique, ingenious, and ever-changing. "Clear" refers to the Li River's year-round crystal-clear waters, allowing one to see directly to the bottom; "Unique" describes the strangely shaped yet beautiful peaks; "Exquisite" signifies the delicate and dynamic scenery, with rocks displaying remarkable shapes, textures, and colors, creating exquisitely crafted scenes as if sculpted by hand; "Changing" means the scenery varies with the seasons, day and night, and weather, offering a fresh experience with each visit.

I arranged a day to visit the ancient village with my kids: 1. One step at a time, a view, you can feel the careful design of the developer; 2. There are about 10 cultural heritage activities for parents and children in the village, and the fees are within the expected standards; 3. It has a slight sense of commercialism, but it will not make people feel overly peddled, and you can choose freely; 4. The whole village is on both sides of the river, which fulfills the desire of urban children to get close to water.
