Universal Studios was great. For us, it was our first time there, and the experience on Monday was quite good. Each queue was less than 20 minutes long. The Harry Potter area was incredibly popular, filled with young people taking photos in wizard costumes. The staff giving birthday wishes to visitors during their birthday month was a nice touch. However, I'd suggest training the actors for the parade. Some actors would wish you a happy birthday, but none of the Minions, our favorite, came to interact with us. My husband waited a long time to take photos, and none of them came, which was quite awkward 😅. Also, there's really no need to buy the Donglaishun 8.8% off coupon. Honestly, it was a bit of a rip-off because it only applies to directly operated stores. We didn't know this at first and thought it would work as long as the store was called Donglaishun, so we chose one near our accommodation. However, we were told that our store was a franchise and couldn't use the coupon…
It's so-so! A chicken leg costs 40, and a pancake costs 55. The tuna pancake is okay! Great value for money. It's also really expensive. It's pretty good. I think it's pretty good. Only the tuna is really good. The rest is really not that great. I suggest going straight for the Forbidden Journey. Otherwise, you'll be queuing all day. I kept my eyes closed the whole time. Anyway.

The scholar said that Director Li (Xiao Hai) took me to visit the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City is beautiful and has a long history. Director Li's explanations were also very thorough, allowing me to learn about history again. The child listened very attentively.
Entering through the Meridian Gate, the red walls and yellow tiles exude a thousand-year-old majesty, while the gilded animal-shaped roof ridges of the Hall of Supreme Harmony gleam in the sunlight. Walking along the central axis, the carved beams and painted rafters of the Palace of Heavenly Purity and the winding paths of the Imperial Garden are all steeped in history. Stepping into the Palace Museum's Treasure Gallery and Clock Gallery, one is greeted by a rich and dazzling array of artifacts. The warmth of Hetian jade, the elegance of blue and white porcelain, the intricacy of Western clocks, and the splendor of enamelware—each piece bears the mark of its era. The patterns and luster under the lights seem to converse with the ancients across a thousand years, a profound interplay of historical weight and artistic brilliance, creating an immersive and truly awe-inspiring experience.

Очень красиво! Брали билет с подъемом на канатке, чтобы успеть посмотреть побольше, обратно шли пешком. Если подниматься на Северную часть - то потом почти всегда идешь вниз :)
Liu Yicheng, the tour guide, gave an excellent explanation. His explanations were detailed, enthusiastic, and engaging. It's clear he's a passionate history enthusiast who simply wants to share knowledge.

Having visited Prince Gong's Mansion, I can only say that being the world's richest man at the time wasn't an exaggeration. The mansion is truly beautiful, especially the furniture in the Xijinzhai Hall, which is dazzling under the sunlight—it almost blinded me! 🤣 The guide told me the pillars inside are made of Phoebe zhennan wood, worth 2.7 billion yuan (this astronomical figure shocked me, especially considering there's more than one pillar inside). I particularly loved the Grand Theater. Looking inside from the outside, it can only be described as exquisite. It's a unique, fully enclosed grand theater in my country. The guide, Sanmao, explained that you can clearly hear any sound from any corner inside—it's like a modern-day stage. This effect is achieved by placing several large vats inside; the ingenious and unique structure increases the resonance and reverberation space. I'm really curious—the imagination of the ancients was incredible! How did they come up with so many ideas?
The Prince Gong's Mansion encapsulates half of Qing Dynasty history. This tour of the Prince Gong's Mansion, guided by Director Zeng, was vivid and interesting. The key artifacts were explained simply, and the two hours flew by. I would definitely book this activity with Ctrip again in the future.

Marked as a World Heritage Site, Temple of Heaven is absolutely worth a visit! The largest building (Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests) is visible miles away if you are walking towards it (making it convenient - can close out of Baidu maps and just keep walking which is what we did haha!) We purchased tickets upon arrival, easy process. There were many people taking photographs but you can get good shots if you tilt your camera up or get lucky with timing. The park itself is beautiful and serene, making it a great place to relax and enjoy for 1-2 hours.
This activity is perfect for tourists who come on a last-minute trip and haven't made any reservations in advance. The tour guide's explanations were very engaging and the content was rich. It's a pity the time was a bit short, which felt like it limited their time to fully enjoy themselves. 😁

The Summer Palace, nestled against Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake, covers over 300 hectares, with water accounting for about three-quarters of its area. Surrounded by mountains and water, it is a royal garden renowned for its breathtaking scenery. Its pavilions, halls, corridors, bridges, and terraces each possess unique characteristics, borrowing scenery from the natural environment to elevate the Summer Palace's beauty far beyond the garden itself. In 1998, the Summer Palace became a World Heritage Site.
A Brief Introduction to the Flowers, Trees, and Plants of the Summer Palace: Ancient and Famous Trees: * **Chinese Pine:** An evergreen tree with a beautiful shape, widely distributed throughout the Summer Palace. * **White Pine:** A precious tree species, named for its unique white bark. * **Chinese Arborvitae:** Commonly used in landscaping, highly ornamental. * **Chinese Scholar Tree:** Flowers in summer with a strong fragrance, a common street tree in Beijing. * **Ginkgo:** Its leaves turn golden in autumn, adding much autumnal color to the Summer Palace. Flowers and Plants: * **Magnolia:** Blooms in early spring with pure white or pink flowers, exuding fragrance, a top choice for spring flower viewing. * **Peony:** Known as the "King of Flowers," its blooms are elegant and magnificent. * **Plum Blossom:** Blooms in late winter and early spring, highly cold-resistant, symbolizing perseverance. * **Lotus:** Blooming gracefully on Kunming Lake in summer, the lotus flowers stand tall and provide a refreshing feeling. Chrysanthemum: A representative flower of autumn, with many varieties and vibrant colors.

The Hanging Temple is worth a visit. If you're not afraid of heights, you should definitely climb it. However, the scenic area is a bit of a rip-off. The ticket office and the Hanging Temple are in two separate places, and it feels like they're just trying to get you to take their shuttle bus.
The Hanging Temple (a national cultural relic) is located in Ciyangxia, Hengshan Mountain, 4 kilometers southeast of Hunyuan County, Datong City, Shanxi Province. It is a temple complex integrating Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism, situated approximately 60 meters above the ground. It was first built in the 15th year of the Taihe reign of the Northern Wei Dynasty (491 AD). It has been repaired throughout the dynasties. During the Jin and Yuan dynasties, the south and north buildings, along with the suspended walkway, largely formed the current spatial layout. The existing buildings are mainly from the Ming and Qing dynasties. (Filming location for Black Myth: Wukong) The temple gate faces south, with the west side considered the main entrance. It is a wooden frame structure with a multi-layered horizontal layout running north-south. The overall layout is "one courtyard and two buildings," with a suspended temple courtyard at the south end and two suspended flying buildings at the north end. It is one of the earliest and best-preserved high-altitude wooden cliff-side buildings in China. The great Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai inscribed the words "Magnificent" on the cliff face. The great Ming Dynasty traveler Xu Xiake exclaimed it as "a magnificent sight under heaven." In the first year of the Tianxing era of the Northern Wei Dynasty (398 AD), the Northern Wei established its capital in Pingcheng (present-day Datong City). Before his death, Kou Qianzhi (365-448 AD), a Taoist master of the Northern Wei, left a will: to build a temple in the sky, so as to "reach the heavenly guests above and sever the hustle and bustle below." Afterwards, his disciples raised funds from various sources, carefully selected a site, and designed the temple. The Hanging Temple was completed in the fifteenth year of the Taihe era of the Northern Wei Dynasty (491 AD). Travel Guide Transportation: Bus 901 goes directly there, running once an hour, taking 2.5 hours. The last bus departs at 6 PM. However, sometimes the bus doesn't stop. Ticket Price: Located within the Hengshan Scenic Area, the outer perimeter ticket is 15 yuan, and the climbing ticket is 100 yuan. Reservations must be made one week in advance through "Beiyue Yunyou" (Northern Yue Cloud Tour). (Free for those over 60 years old; military personnel with preferential treatment cards need to purchase a climbing ticket). Shuttle bus fare between Hengshan attractions is 20 yuan. (Not recommended for those with a fear of heights) Time: 1-2 hours Accommodation and Meals: Stay overnight in Hunyuan Ancient Town. Taxi fare to Hengshan is 10 yuan. The local specialty, liangfen (cold noodles), can be made in six or seven different flavors. Nearby Attractions: Datong Ancient Town, Yungang Grottoes, Yong'an Temple, Yuanjue Temple Brick Pagoda, Hanging Temple, Hengshan Mountain, Jueshan Temple Pagoda, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda.

I learned about this section of the Great Wall from a variety show. It's not difficult to climb, and not too steep. The sections from watchtowers 14 to 19 are occasionally steep, and the final section to Hero's Terrace is a bit treacherous, requiring the use of both hands and feet. For those with elderly family members, taking the cable car round trip is a much better option.
I absolutely loved Mutianyu! The scenery between 14 and 20 is the most beautiful! The shuttle bus and cable car saved my life! We couldn't climb the Hero's Slope, but those who made it, I salute you guys, you're real heroes!

We took my parents and children to the Summer Palace and purchased a tour guide service through the platform. The guide was very responsible, contacted us in advance, and was waiting for us at the entrance early in the morning. The explanations throughout the trip were very thorough, and we are very grateful.
The royal gardens are indeed unique and very large; you can't see them all in one day. It's best to hire a guide who can tell you many stories you don't know and also provide a reasonable tour route.

野生动物园太值得了,青少年和大人都很开心,坐小火车开动物喂动物轻松愉快,猛兽区投喂老虎黑熊狼是非常特别的体验,其他的动物也都非常温顺亲近人。离开北京前完美的一天。
The park is huge and you could easily spend a whole day there! Driving is a much better experience and allows for much more time than taking the train. Giraffes block the way, and kangaroos lazily roam the roadside. There aren't many animals you can feed; some cows and sheep are in enclosures that are out of reach by car. The giraffes by the roadside weren't very easy to feed, as staff were either urging us to hurry up or shooing our food away. So, don't bring too much food.
