Cangshan, meaning "dark green," is also known as Dian Cangshan. The Tang Dynasty book "Manshu" by Fan Chuo describes Cangshan as "the summit is several thousand feet high, its rocky ridges azure." Therefore, Cangshan means "green mountain rocks." But who could have imagined that Cangshan is nearly 4,000 meters high? Wearing a vest and shorts, I took a hired car all the way up the mountain. As soon as I got the car, the only thing I felt was the cold! I persevered up the mountain to the lake, where the scenery was beautiful. Ximatan, or Ximatan, is said to be the place where Guanyin released a black dragon. Another legend goes that when Kublai Khan, the founder of the Yuan Dynasty, conquered Dali, he led his troops across Cangshan and stationed at Ximatan to wash horses, hence the name. The high altitude, the thin air, and the chill were oppressive. My only thought was to get down the mountain quickly!
The lines are endless, nothing special. I kind of regret not choosing the more expensive option. It's pointless to go up there. There's nothing there. I'll have to go for the 3,000 yuan one next time.

The Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple are famous for their temple itself, having been the home of nine emperors of the Dali Kingdom. The Three Pagodas are even more prestigious, having been designated one of China's first batch of key national cultural relics. From afar, the three pagodas, standing in a triangular formation, are a majestic sight. The Three Pagodas Reflection Park, nestled a kilometer away, perfectly reflects the pagodas in the pond, further enhancing their beauty.
The place is huge with many temples along with the three pagodas. I recommend booking the sightseeing bus to travel up the hill. You can choose to return with the sightseeing bus or walk downhill. It’s very clean and well maintained. Just amazing how well preserved everything is and in such good condition after so many years. The place is very tourist friendly and has introductions in English. We visited during the off-peak season and had some of the temples all to ourselves - got the chance to really soak in the history and scenery. Also a great photo opportunity! There was slight rain shower however as Maldivians, we are used to it and did not bother us or ruin our visit at all. We were expecting and prepared with umbrellas! It was beautiful and definitely worthwhile.

I had hoped for a molten golden sunset by the sea, but instead, I encountered a lingering rainy day, which unexpectedly brought a unique tenderness. Lead-gray clouds hung low above the horizon, and the wind, wrapped in sea mist, blew against my face, bringing a salty, damp coolness that was far more soothing than the sweltering heat of a sunny day. The beach had lost its usual bustle, a few scattered footprints quickly smoothed by the rising tide. The fishing boats in the distance were blurred silhouettes in the mist, like a smudged ink painting. I found a small seaside shop, sat down, ordered a cup of hot ginger tea, and watched the rain slant into the sea, splashing tiny drops of water. Occasionally, a seagull flew past, close to the crest of the waves, its cries softened by the wind. Without the glare of the sun, even time seemed to slow down. No need to rush to tourist attractions or snap photos, just quietly listening to the crashing waves and rain was a more soothing experience than the bustle of a sunny day. A rainy evening by the sea lacked the expected breathtaking spectacle, but it brought an unexpected sense of relaxation. If you also want to avoid the crowds and find some quiet time, such a moment may be more worthwhile than a clear sky.
🌊 "Proven myself | Driving around Erhai Lake is the ultimate way to experience Dali's romantic charm!" If Dali's "romance" were a poem, then driving around Erhai Lake is the most free and unrestrained way to recite it! Renting a convertible here is very convenient and affordable. 💨 🚗 Step on the accelerator and enter a fairyland. ► Recommended: The Haidong Route! The road winds along the lake, and the car windows feel like a giant theater—Cangshan Mountain on the left, Erhai Lake on the right. Every turn is a "wow" moment! ► Don't miss the idyllic scenery of Haixi. Drive through rice paddies and villages, dotted with Bai ethnic minority dwellings. It's like stepping into a live version of a pastoral poem. 🌾 ► Pull over whenever you see a charming spot: take photos of the mirrored sky on the lakeside boardwalk, or wait for the sunset by the wetlands. Feel free to indulge in the feeling of freedom! 🌿 Ecological Corridor: Green healing on wheels. Don't underestimate the driving experience; the ecological experience is uncompromising! Cycle along the Ecological Corridor at night. The S-bend is bustling with activity, with many people singing and dancing. ✅ Enjoy breathtaking lake views throughout the ride. The waters of Erhai Lake are as clear as sapphires, and waterfowl dance in the wetlands along the shore. ✅ Pass by popular photo spots like the S-bend, the Corridor Bridge, and the Couple Tree, and hop off the bike to pose whenever you want. 📸 ✅ Play "Going to Dali" in the car while feeling the lake breeze—who knows this ambiance? 💡 Exclusive Tips ▪️ Vehicle Recommendation: Convertibles or cars with sunroofs are more photogenic! ▪️ Timeline: We recommend a morning sunrise or an afternoon departure, circling the lake counterclockwise to catch the golden sunset at Erhai Lake. 🌅 ▪️ Stops: Shuanglang Observation Deck, Wase Waterway, and Xizhou Ancient Town—each one is worth a stop! 🌟 Why is driving the best? Freedom! Spontaneity! No sun exposure! Perfect for lazy travelers, families, and couples—no need to ride in the scorching sun or hike, just hum along in the air-conditioned car and take in the breathtaking scenery. 📌 Follow me to unlock more magical routes! #DaliSelf-DrivingGuide #ErhaiStunningHighway #Wind,Flowers,Snow,MoonFreeTravel #TravelTips

Dali Ancient City is located in Dali Prefecture, Yunnan Province, bordering Erhai Lake and nestled against Cangshan Mountain. Construction began in 1382, the 15th year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty. Its structure, a checkerboard-like grid of three streets and 18 alleys, features north-south city gates facing each other and east-west gates staggered. Three main streets run north-south, six alleys run east-west, and a network of secluded streets and lanes crisscrosses from west to east.
It is very suitable for being lazy, leisurely and slow-paced, with a petty-bourgeois style 😁. It is very comfortable to relax for half a month after work. In the afternoon, you can lie down in the courtyard, drink tea, and daydream. In the evening, you can buy a cup of special drinks, grab a special snack, and visit special shops. There are also many bars in the evening, listening to music and making tea around the fire. It is really comfortable.

Shuanglang is not big, but the sunset is really beautiful. I went there twice but didn't stay. I had a coffee afternoon tea by the Erhai Lake and a leisurely stroll in the ancient town. It was very comfortable. I recommend long skirts for girls, which will be more photogenic.
Shuanglang Town was a key military fortress and naval base for the Nanzhao and Dali Kingdom during the Tang and Song dynasties. It's a place where diverse cultures, including Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and primitive religions, converge. It's also the filming location for the movie "Five Golden Flowers." The town boasts a well-preserved historical street from the Ming and Qing dynasties, offering a unique view at every turn, and the Erhai Lake scenery is truly breathtaking. Yang Liping's Sun Palace, located on Shuanglang's Yuji Island, is a popular photo-op. It's not only an artistic destination but also a stunning scenic spot in Shuanglang.

Zhang Family Garden is a shining pearl of Dali's Bai culture. The architectural decorations, including wood carvings, stone carvings, and murals, are exquisite, and every detail showcases the craftsman's exquisite craftsmanship. Here, visitors can not only admire the beautiful architecture and scenery, but also enjoy authentic Bai Three-Course Tea and participate in traditional folk activities, feeling like they've traveled through time and space, immersing themselves in the rich history of the Bai people.
The scenery in the garden is very good. There is a tour guide named Jinhua to explain the scenery. You can also drink tea for free. There are many things to see inside. The pavilions and towers in the garden are unique in style and have high artistic value. It is worth a visit!

This is a good option for travelers who don't drive. You need to plan your visit time to different attractions in advance to avoid missing the best scenery. It is recommended to stay on the upper right side.
It was a great experience! The bus provided convenient transportation services for tourists and provided good conditions for visiting Erhai Lake and surrounding attractions, leaving a deep impression.

Two or three days might be more suitable for visiting Jizu Mountain. One day would be too rushed. We at least went up and then walked down. Walking down is very tiring for the knees. It is recommended not to walk, but to take the cable car down.
Arriving for the fourth year, I came here at my own will, following my heart. A pure land, three pillars of incense. May all my wishes come true, and all may be well! The scenery and spiritual energy of Jizu Mountain are truly worth a visit. But remember to bring sunscreen. The UV rays on the mountain are extremely strong, and without sunscreen, you'll get a tan in no time! I recommend wearing comfortable shoes for the hike. The many mountain paths will leave your legs shaking in no time!

At the beginning of the rise of Nanzhao in the early Tang Dynasty, Shaxi was a "Zhao" (Yiluoshizhao) in the northern part of the Erhai Lake Basin, belonging to the Jiannan Road Yaozhou Dudufu, which commanded the various ethnic minority states in the western part of Chuxiong Prefecture to Dali Prefecture. Shaxi Ancient Town Before the Ming Dynasty, Shaxi was called "Shatui" and "Shatui". In the late Ming Dynasty, the name "Shaxi" was used. "Xu Xiake's Travel Notes" said: "The flow of Jianchuan Lake, combined with Tuoqiang River, runs through the gorge in the middle of the river, which is the so-called Shaxi. Its valley is five or six miles wide from east to west, and no less than fifty miles from north to south. The rice and grain produced are very abundant, and Jianchuan Prefecture comes to get enough." Here, "Jianchuan Lake is in the east of Jianchuan Prefecture, with a circumference of dozens of miles, and flows into Zhaozhou." "Tuoqiang" is "Taoqiang", which is a mistake in accent. Gu Zuyu of the Qing Dynasty said in "Dushi Fangyu Jiyao": "Taoqiang River is thirty miles south of the prefecture (Jianchuan Prefecture)." Shaxi was called "Shaxi Tu" in the Qing Dynasty.
[Scenery] The living fossils of the ancient tea horse road, time amber is the heart! Stepping across the stone road of Yujin Bridge, the old yellow house of the moor is quiet, and the sound of horseshoes echoes in Sideng Street. The ancient stage wood carving mottled the vicissitudes, and the Tang style murals of Xingjiao Temple hide the mystery. [Fun] Pioneer Book Bureau drink coffee to see Yunjuan Yunshu, and on Friday, the Taobai nationality tie-dye, wild fungus dry goods fireworks rise. Avoiding the hustle and bustle of business is like a paradise, but the traffic is turning to the 18 bends of the mountain road. [Cost-effective] The hidden secret of being awakened by "Going to a Windy place"; Horseshoe prints, old books and starry sky together brew slow time, healing power full! ✨

I'd played it in Singapore before, and when I saw it was also available in Dali, I decided to add it to my itinerary. It didn't disappoint; I had three rides and was completely blown away, especially my son. Compared to Singapore, the slides are longer and the scenery is even more beautiful. I highly recommend it. To avoid peak traffic, we went around 5:00 PM. While the sun was still strong, there weren't many lines. Aside from a short wait for the cable car, everything else went smoothly. After our three rides, the sun was almost setting. The scenery was stunning, and many influencers were livestreaming the experience. Overall, it was a very satisfying trip.
Honestly, it's quite fun, especially taking the kids out. However, there are lines to get your tickets, pick up the car, and even get up the mountain. The driver of the mountain shuttle bus is incredibly aggressive, though, and it's much more thrilling than taking the cable car.
