A great way to discover the beautiful city of Guangzhou from the legendary Pearl River. Ideally, take the 6:40 PM boat to enjoy a daytime departure and gradually transition into the magical night lit up by the city's skyscrapers.
Several docks along the river offer the cruise. We were recommended to go from Haixinsha. As we booked on the day itself, this theme boat (unsure why it's pricier) was the only option for our desired timing. ID number eg. passport is required for booking. Trip.com had advised to arrive 30 minutes earlier to “wait or pick up tickets”. In reality, it's a MUST to PICK UP the ticket at the counter. Each ticket came with a RMB10 voucher to buy a drink or snack onboard (which averaged RMB30), and a photo with Canton Tower. But these were not mentioned on the booking page (unlike another platform); we only learned these inclusions when the staff mentioned in Mandarin. For the photos, it turned out the free ones are very small (2.4 x 3.6 cm), with keychain frames that we had to put ourselves. They had also printed the bigger versions (5R if I recall correctly) but these are for sale. We decided to get the free ones, since the shots aren’t great.
