Fang Lake, also known as "Fang Gong Lake". Located in the southwest corner of the city (in today's Fanghu Park), it was excavated by Fangju, the famous prime minister of the Tang Dynasty, when he moved to be the governor of Hanzhou in Erche of Shangyuan Dynasty (761 AD).
Gufang Lake is five or six acres wide, with dense bamboo shade and pavilions and pavilions on the lakeside. It is a resting place for Fang Guan. During his tenure as the governor of Hanzhou, Fang Guan was highly praised by the people for his ability to promote advantages and eliminate disadvantages, and for his political leadership and harmony. He also took advantage of the situation and dug the "Fanggong Facing Lake" in the west of the city, which benefited both agricultural production and garden construction. It covers an area of 100 hectares and is full of forests, ponds, water and trees. It was known as Western Shu and attracted social attention. Fu, Liu Yuxi, Su Che, Lu You and other literati and poets boated on the lake, drank wine and chanted wine, and left many anecdotes and masterpieces for future generations.
Today, "Fang Lake" has become the best place to commemorate the sages, commemorate Fang Guan, go sightseeing, and have leisure and entertainment.
