Himeji Castle is a hilltop Japanese castle complex situated in Himeji, a city in the Hyōgo Prefecture of Japan. The interior scenery and layout are perfect, and it is extremely suitable for taking photos or wearing kimonos. You don't need to buy tickets at the gate, but can buy a combination ticket directly at Himeji Castle for only 1050 yen (Himeji Castle 1000 + Kokoen 50), which is so cost-effective that it is basically free.
Koko-en Garden is right next to Himeji Castle. I bought a combined ticket. There are several Edo-era gardens inside, with flowers, grass, ponds and fish. Walk around. The gardens are elegant, pleasing to the eye, and beautiful.
