Yes, I checked the weather forecast, and it said it would clear up, and indeed, it was sunny when I went.
However, the fog on the mountain never dissipated. We were following the classic route, starting in the morning and going to Taizipo, Xiaoyao Valley, Zixiao Palace, Nanyan, Nanyan Palace, Mingshendao, the First, Second, and Third Gates, and the Golden Summit. When we reached Nanyan Palace, we realized we had to backtrack and climb again to the Golden Summit. Time was tight, and the fog was getting thicker, making it impossible to see the path ahead. The climb up a very steep staircase was exhausting; by the time we finally reached the Golden Summit, we were soaked in sweat, and our hair was frosted. We finally arrived at the Golden Summit at 4 pm, but unfortunately, it was so foggy that we couldn't see the summit's scenery, the magnificent sunset, or the sea of clouds. We took the cable car down, and all we knew was that the cable car line was very steep, but it was all shrouded in fog. I didn't get to experience all the beautiful scenery, but after climbing and paying my respects, I had a great experience. There's a really ancient cliffside building near Nanyan Palace that's definitely worth seeing, though you have to backtrack, and the weather wasn't great either. Finally, be sure to drink the ginger soup at the Golden Summit to warm yourself up!
