The must-see when visiting Changbai Mountain is Tianchi! The view of Tianchi from different slopes is also different. The north slope is well developed and has a cable car that can be directly reached. You can easily see the whole view of Tianchi. There are also waterfalls, Julong Hot Springs and other attractions around it. The experience is superb. The west slope requires climbing a section of the mountain, but the scenery is primitive and beautiful. It is very meaningful to take pictures next to the boundary monument between the two countries. The south slope is relatively less visited, but the view of Tianchi there is said to be very unique, and you can see a different beauty.
If I can only recommend one place in Northeast China, I would definitely recommend Tianchi Lake in Changbai Mountain. However, if you come here to play, you must choose good weather, otherwise you may think that many people will not be able to see Tianchi Lake after going there. I’m so glad we found this place on Trip app! It took us about 25 minutes to get there from the Folk Custom Park. Piyanshan Scenic Area has it all! Beautiful hiking trails in nature as well as fun rides and attractions. Our kids had so much fun and so did we. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Even during National Holiday we did not experience long cues or many tourists. It is pricey but we think it’s worth it for what it offers. We stayed about 4-5 hours.
