Half of the 200 yuan per person entrance fee went to the scenic area shuttle bus and ferry. The visitor center and Three Gorges Family Village are on opposite sides of the river. Paper tickets must be exchanged at the visitor center; ID cards are not accepted. Therefore, whether driving or taking a taxi, you must go to the visitor center. After exchanging the tickets, we took the shuttle bus to the pier, which is a bit of a distance up the mountain road. The ferry took us to the other side. Following online recommendations, we took the escalator up to Bawangzhai for 30 yuan per person. For 30 yuan, we took three escalators, but we still had to climb the mountain on our own. There were few tourists on the mountain, just Bawangzhai (with performances) and a quiet commercial street. The highlight of the scenic area, the "Water Village," is at the foot of the mountain, so the expense of going up and then trudging down felt like a waste. The Water Village Village has many local performances worth watching, and the scenery is much better than from the mountain. Overall, this scenic area isn't worth the price, and the entrance fee is a bit expensive. The next day, we visited the Qingjiang Gallery, and the scenery was much more stunning than that of the Three Gorges Family Village.
