This completely changed my imagination of Danxia! Walking under the stars, watching the colorful mountains illuminated by lights, it felt like I had traveled to another planet. The performance was also wonderful, telling stories through light and shadow. The overall experience exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend this night tour!
After entering the scenic area, we took the scenic shuttle bus to visit each of the four observation decks. The shuttle runs frequently, making it easy to get on and off at each stop. We had elderly people with us, so we took our time, from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., a total of 4.5 hours. For your reference, there's a direct bus from Zhangye West Station to the scenic area's north gate for 40 yuan round trip, which is quite convenient.

Jiayuguan Fortress left the most profound impression on me during this trip to Northwest China! As I approached, the towering walls of the city wall immediately struck me, transporting me back to the days of war and battle. The fortress is massive, consisting of an inner city, an outer city, and a outer city. Its walls are tall and thick, having withstood over 600 years of wind and rain. Strolling through the fortress, touching the ancient bricks and stone, I could truly feel the weight of history. Entering the Guerrilla General's Mansion, I felt as if I could see the general planning his strategy. Climbing the tower, I gazed out over the boundless Gobi Desert, the snow-capped Qilian Mountains in the distance contrasting with the fortress, creating a breathtaking view. The unique architectural style here, with its flying eaves, brackets, and carved beams and painted rafters, showcases the mastery of ancient craftsmen. The three buildings on the fortress have even been hailed by Great Wall expert Luo Zhewen as the most beautiful structures along the Great Wall. The scenic area also offers a wealth of cultural activities, and immersive performances offer a fascinating glimpse into ancient frontier life. The scenic area's guided tours are excellent, the staff are friendly and attentive, and the surrounding facilities are well-equipped, with plenty of food and drink available. Jiayuguan Pass is not only a scenic spot, but also a treasure trove of history. I highly recommend a visit to experience the awe of history—it's definitely worth the trip!
Finally, I saw the tower of Jiayuguan with my own eyes. This is a feeling that cannot be replaced by books and TV. The scenic area not only has this tower, but also many buildings, and Jiayuguan is also the name of the city.

It was a truly wonderful experience, both unique and captivating. While the in-depth tour was expensive, the experience was well worth it. The itinerary was coherent and engaging, with staff explaining each point. Before the tour, the staff even gave each visitor a "energy pack" containing water, bread, sugar, and a small towel. The staff were incredibly thoughtful and demonstrated a high level of operational management. My only suggestion for improvement was the truck used for the first leg of the trip. It would have been much better if the vehicle had been upgraded to be safer and more comfortable, or at least the suspension system could have been improved.
Because we were in a hurry, we chose a reverse in-depth tour. The staff at each point were professional and enthusiastic. There was no need to queue for reverse camel riding and off-road vehicles. The route was very suitable for children.

The reclining Buddha in the Big Buddha Temple is really shocking. It is the first time I have seen such a large Buddha indoors. It is very rare. The surrounding murals are also very exquisite. In addition to seeing the colorful Danxia when you come to Zhangye, I really recommend coming here to see it. It takes about an hour to visit the whole place, but it is definitely worth seeing.
Walking into Zhangye's Grand Buddha Temple is like stepping into the folds of time. The reclining Buddha's eyes half-close, millennia of light and shadow shimmer across his garments. The flying apsaras in the murals seem poised to descend at any moment. The scent of incense mingles with the aroma of aged wood, and even the air feels like a story. A walk around the temple calms the mind. No wonder the ancients often called this place a "Buddhist kingdom on the Great Wall." Absolutely stunning, highly recommended!

The scenery here is superb, but the open grottoes (Golden Pagoda Temple and Special Grottoes are not open to the public) no longer exist. They are all later statues. It is painful and sad to see them. I can only imagine the scriptures of that time by relying on the shrines. The regret is beyond words. Fortunately, the weather was good and the rain quickly cleared up. The rainbow, snow-capped mountains, green grass and the beautiful Lama Temple made people feel much more relaxed.
This is actually a very large scenic area. Due to our limited time, we only visited the Buddhist temple built on the cliff, called the 33-day Grottoes, but this has shocked me. Due to the altitude of 2500+, I am a little physically exhausted. If you don’t have altitude sickness and have enough time, you can take a good walk.

Zhuoer Mountain is a hilly grassland, opposite to Amidongso, with nice scenery. In addition, the scenic area is also very mature. There is an extra-long elevator going up the mountain and a water slide going down the mountain, which is also very interesting. Overall, it is not very tiring and is suitable for traveling with children.
The scenery is amazing. You can see snow-capped mountains, Danxia, and experience the beauty of clouds on the mountaintops. The problem is that the snow has melted by the time you get there. You can go up on horseback for 160 yuan per person (you can negotiate a price). There are also horse-drawn carriages, and you can take a slide down. If you want a natural and unspoiled experience, you can skip the scenic area. After all, the scenic area is crowded and the views are similar. The scenery along the way is beautiful! You have to queue up to take pictures of the Sky Mirror, and you can't take them yourself! The guy who led the horse was very nice and helped me take pictures, haha!

It is divided into indoor and outdoor areas. The immersive scene of Nuwa mending the sky is quite strong. The magic house is also very good. The indoor stage performances are wonderful, and the outdoor projects are very exciting. Just prepare a raincoat in advance. I saw in the guide that disposable raincoats are not allowed, but many people bought disposable ones. We rented one, which cost 20, and 30 with shoe covers. It doesn't feel worth it. It's best to prepare in advance to reduce expenses. I thought I had no tickets and all the projects were free, but many of them were charged. For example, the boat on the water, the mirror house, the haunted house, the shooting, and the bumper cars were all charged separately, which didn't feel good.
[Scenery] It is so beautiful, and it is unique to see the snow-capped mountains on a roller coaster. [Fun] The big IP of Dunhuang is really awesome, the secret land is combined with 5D technology, and it is completely unfamiliar to Universal Studios. [Value for money] If you want to enjoy the fun of playing multiple projects without queuing in the off-season, it is just right to go now. If you want night fireworks and parades, there are only holidays and winter and summer vacations.

We traveled a long way to Ejina. We first went to the Ejina Populus euphratica forest, and then to Heicheng Ruoshui. I personally think Heicheng is better, the poplar trees are bigger and the leaves are yellower! There are shuttle buses to and from various scenic spots in the scenic area. The poplar forest by the water is really beautiful and shocking. I saw the sunset in the strange forest, which was also beautiful! In the evening, I also watched the iron flower and fire pot performances.
Environment: Heishui New City is a man-made scenic spot, which replicates the ancient city at a 1:1 ratio, and has the same business model as many ancient cities. Ruoshui Scenic Area is worth visiting, and Phoenix Forest, Life Oil Painting Forest, and Love Island are recommended. Service: It is recommended that the scenic shuttle bus be converted into a fully enclosed one, as it is dusty when driving, and it is a bit cold at the end of September. The scenic shuttle bus service from Heishui City to the Strange Forest is very poor.
