Because I couldn't book ferry tickets to Gulangyu Island online for the next day, I chose this travel agency. The service was quite good. They contacted me via WeChat to tell me the meeting time and place. After arriving, it took about 40 to 50 minutes by car, and then we waited for about an hour at the pier before finally arriving on Gulangyu Island. Gulangyu Island is quite beautiful and worth seeing. We were also lucky enough to catch the organ performance every Friday afternoon at 4:30!
I bought the business class tickets, but it is only special in the waiting area. When the time is near they let us line up in front of other passengers. When the gate opens people will run to the other waiting door, we have to rush for a seat as others do. It's a small island, you get on from one jetty and walk to another jetty to go back. There's a baggy car service, but if you buy the tickets for the whole journey, then you can only see the seaside and miss many other inner sides of the island.

Memories of Xiamen Botanical Garden On December 19th, I visited the Xiamen Botanical Garden and made a special trip to the National Bougainvillea Germplasm Resource Bank. I was surprised to learn that bougainvillea, botanically known as a climbing shrub in the Nyctaginaceae family, is native to South America. It is vigorous, thrives in warm climates, and typically blooms in November. Due to its vibrant colors and long flowering period, it has been widely introduced and cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide, and is now the city flower of more than 30 cities in my country, including Xiamen. The Bougainvillea Germplasm Resource Bank is a "gene bank" of bougainvillea genetic resources, currently housing nearly 500 varieties, accounting for almost half of the world's varieties and ranking first in China. It consists of a bougainvillea germplasm resource conservation base and a bougainvillea exhibition garden. The exhibition garden fully utilizes the natural landscape of the botanical garden, including mountains, rocks, and water, with "flowers and rocks" as its design theme. It highlights both the vibrant beauty of bougainvillea and the unique characteristics of Wanshi Mountain. Following the natural contours of the mountain, the bougainvillea are arranged at varying heights, dividing the area into several zones, including a flower sea area, a bonsai area, a variety area, and a leisure area. Stepping into the flower sea area is like entering a dreamlike wonderland. Hundreds of bougainvillea varieties bloom in competition, their colors ranging from fiery reds and brilliant oranges to dazzling yellows and pure whites. They cascade down the terraced terrain in tiers like waterfalls, creating a magnificent sea of bougainvillea flowers. The walkways meander through this floral paradise; strolling along them, the layers of blossoms resemble colorful waves, swaying gently in the breeze. The invigorating fragrance carried on the breeze is refreshing and unforgettable. Entering the variety area is like stepping into a natural kingdom of bougainvillea. Here, the bougainvillea grows intermittently alongside the rocks, blending perfectly with the surrounding natural environment. Strolling along the winding paths, one encounters numerous "bougainvillea beauties"—varieties like Snow White, Mona Lisa, Hong Kong Beauty, Orange Ice, and River Lotus, each with its own unique charm: some stand gracefully on either side of the path; others nestle against the rocks, all alluring. Among them, the "Red-Bud Beauty" series is the most abundant, with varieties like Yi Hong, Pink Little Elf, Double-Petaled Jujube Red, Golden Deer Crimson, and Deep Red Wrinkled Leaves, each possessing its own distinct character. The "green foliage" adorning these "beauties" is also unique, with varying shades of green, sizes, and even patterns—silver-edged, gold-edged, variegated, and wrinkled leaves creating a delightful contrast. Immersed in the garden, appreciating the rich variety of bougainvillea varieties, and fully enjoying nature's bounty, one's heart is filled with comfort and happiness. Stepping into the leisure area, one enters a tranquil resting place amidst the sea of flowers. Here, you'll find a meticulously crafted "Love Corridor," with vibrant red hearts strung together to form archways, and animal shapes woven from bougainvillea, their graceful forms creating a romantic atmosphere. Lawns, flagstone paths, and rest pavilions are scattered throughout, complementing each other beautifully. Strolling along, you can stop to take photos, enjoy panoramic views of the magnificent terraced flower fields, and gaze at the stunning scenery of Wanshi Mountain and the bougainvillea's graceful, climbing blossoms. Against the backdrop of blue skies, white clouds, colorful flowers, and green grass, you can truly appreciate the harmonious beauty of humanity and nature. In short, the bougainvillea flower sea is one of the most visually stunning biological landscapes I've ever seen on my travels.
Personally, I think this is the most worthwhile attraction on Gulangyu Island. If you like flowers and plants, you can spend a whole day here. Bring your own food, though; there are restaurants inside, but they're expensive. If you have plenty of money, you can eat there—the environment is fantastic. Picture 3 shows the restaurant.

Sunset time is hard to get, but other times are still possible. We went early in the morning. The cable car was built quite early and has a weight limit of 340 catties. Luckily, the guy behind me and I were both overweight, so we each got a private cabin and 40 minutes of alone time.
When you come to Xiamen, you absolutely must take a ride on the Bell and Drum Cableway! The whole journey takes about 40 minutes, half mountain and half sea, offering panoramic views of the mountains, sea, and city! Unfortunately, the weather turned cloudy and rainy the afternoon I went, so I didn't get to see the sunset. I'll definitely go again next time!

Entering from the North Gate, you can see most of the main attractions, and finally take a bamboo raft back to Wuyi Palace. In the evening, watch the Impression Dahongpao show. Overall, it's a great experience and suitable for a two-day trip. The experienced raft operator is very eloquent, explaining things along the way while paddling.
The scenic area's sightseeing bus management system is very user-friendly, making it convenient for tourists to visit various attractions! We visited two major attractions in one day, and it was very convenient to take the bus to where we wanted to go!

Scenic area that is walkable from end to end. Can complete in half a day. If travelling with elderly people that cannot walk much, it is possible to engage a certified guide at the entrance for 100 yuan for a group. The guide can provide transport depending on what they have (scooter/ car) to bring you from attraction to attraction. We visited the main attractions in less than 2 hours with a car. At the end of the tour, the guide suggest for you to drink tea at their "home" as a way to bring you to a tea shop.
I went during a time when it wasn't peak season, and the scenery was still quite nice. The Tulou (earthen buildings) have a strong sense of history, and there are quite a few of them, although there were far fewer than during peak season. It was mostly tour groups there. It's still worth visiting if you have some free time.

Memories of Hulishan Fortress "Hulishan Fortress" is one of Xiamen's twenty scenic spots. With its unique historical and cultural value and beautiful natural scenery, it has become a calling card for Xiamen tourism. On November 20th, I visited Hulishan Fortress and learned about "One Tree, Two Cannons." ★A Single Tree Forming a Forest It is actually a giant banyan tree with a huge canopy, lush branches and leaves, and numerous aerial roots. It appears to be composed of dozens of banyan trees, but in reality, it is only one. These aerial roots hang down from the branches, take root in the ground, and grow into new trunks, creating a dense canopy that blocks out the sun. ★28-Cen Krupp Cannon "Cen" is an old term; one cen is approximately equal to 10 millimeters. 28 cen means a caliber of 280 millimeters. The 28-cen Krupp cannon was produced by the German Krupp arms factory and had an effective range of 20 kilometers. On September 3, 1937, a Japanese warship entered Xiamen's outer harbor, and this cannon sank the Japanese warship, marking the first time a Japanese warship was sunk in the China theater. Hulishan Fortress originally housed two 28cm Krupp cannons. One was destroyed during the Great Leap Forward in 1958, leaving only one. The State Administration of Cultural Heritage has authenticated this cannon as "the world's only extant 19th-century breech-loading coastal cannon completely preserved at its original site," and it has been included in the Shanghai World Guinness Records. ★Iron Mold Cannon The iron mold cannon utilizes the iron mold casting technique, invented by Gong Zhenlin, a weapons expert in the late Qing Dynasty. This technology predates Europe by 30 years, serving as important evidence of my country's leading position in ancient weapons manufacturing. The iron mold cannon is a unique relic of modern Chinese iron mold casting and a precious treasure of the fortress. The Hulishan Cannon King is not just a scenic spot, but also a historical record of the three seas. Hulishan Cannon King The Hulishan Cannon King crowns Xiamen Island A famous scenic spot in Xiamen records the seasons A single tree shelters the sky, concealing the years Two cannons thunder, calming the sea island Mountains and seas serve as paper, recording a century Vicissitudes are recorded in the scroll, commemorating the past.
The exhibits are rather limited, but the performances are a highlight! The fort itself isn't large, but it's steeped in history, offering good views of the ancient cannons and the coastline. However, the most outstanding feature is the live-action "Krupp Cannon" performance, which simulates loading and firing—a truly awe-inspiring experience that instantly brings history closer, making the visit lively and engaging. Visiting during the performance time will greatly enhance the experience.

Qingyuan Mountain: A Thousand-Year Poetic Journey Embraced by Mountains and Sea The most delightful encounter of my trip to Quanzhou was undoubtedly Qingyuan Mountain, a hidden gem where nature and culture blend seamlessly. As a national 5A scenic area and a dual World Heritage site, it avoids the hustle and bustle of popular tourist spots, yet at an altitude of 498 meters, it holds a profound and ethereal beauty that transcends millennia. Stepping through the mountain gate, a winding cobblestone path ascends, flanked by lush forests and babbling brooks—the idyllic scene of "a clear spring flowing over rocks" immediately comes into view. Halfway up, the Song Dynasty Laozi Rock Carving suddenly appears before you. Sculpted from a single block of granite, Laozi's benevolent face, flowing ears, and long beard remain serene despite a thousand years of weathering, truly deserving of the title "Laozi, the First Under Heaven." Touching the stone carvings, it's as if you can converse with the ancient craftsmen and feel the profound depth of Taoist culture. Climbing the mountain path, cliff carvings are everywhere, showcasing the calligraphy of scholars and poets throughout history, some vigorous, some elegant. These over 600 carvings are a veritable "museum of calligraphy on stone." Reaching the summit of Nantai Rock, one can enjoy panoramic views of Quanzhou's ancient city and the distant seascape. Mornings are shrouded in clouds, and evenings are bathed in golden sunsets—every frame a soothing picture. Tianhu Lake, like a pearl embedded in the verdant hills, sits nestled beside an ancient temple, its bells ringing melodiously. The stupa containing the relics of Master Hongyi is hidden in the greenery, adding a touch of timeless Zen. The most precious aspect is the pleasantness of the climb. The slope is gentle and moderate, with pavilions scattered along the way. When tired, one can rest and listen to the sounds of streams and birdsong. At the foot of the mountain, the local delicacies of rice noodle soup and meat dumplings are the perfect finishing touch—a steaming bowl of delicious food after the climb.
Very good, very .... The mountain environment is very nice, suitable for relaxing and unwinding. It's just that the 70 yuan entrance fee is a bit expensive, and there's not much to do.

Nan'ao Island is a vital stop and transit point for trade along China's southeast coast, a major channel for maritime trade between mainland China and Taiwan, and an important node on the Maritime Silk Road. As one of the 12 island counties (districts) of mainland China with an entire island area designated as a national 4A-level tourist attraction, Nan'ao Island boasts abundant island resources and is an oasis on the Tropic of Cancer. Nan'ao Island's tourism resources are characterized by a unique combination of sea, history, mountains, and temples. Many scenic spots, such as Song Well, the General's Mansion, Jin Yin Island, Qing'ao Bay, and the Island National Forest Park, have always been popular. It also boasts the Guangdong Nanpeng Islands National Nature Reserve, the "International Migratory Bird Paradise"—the Guangdong Nan'ao Migratory Bird Provincial Nature Reserve, and numerous other accolades including "China's Most Beautiful Coastline," "Guangdong Provincial All-for-One Tourism Demonstration Zone," "Guangdong Provincial-Level Tourist Resort," "Guangdong Provincial Strong Tourism County," "Guangdong Provincial Coastal Tourism Demonstration Scenic Area," "Guangdong Provincial Coastal Tourism Industrial Park," and "One of Guangdong's Top Ten Beautiful Islands."
🌴The Tropic of Cancer on Nan'ao Island is a perfect encounter between summer and winter. Looking through summer photos in winter evokes the feeling of returning to that hot afternoon. 🌧️Luckily, a light afternoon drizzle brought the delightful surprise of a rainbow. That rainbow in the square seemed to add a special boost to the trip, lifting everyone's spirits. 🌅At sunset, we admired the afterglow at the Tropic of Cancer Square in Qing'ao Bay. Remember to check the weather forecast beforehand and arrive at the beach half an hour early; the sand there is fine and white, incredibly relaxing to walk on. On a clear day, even a simple photo taken with your camera will turn out beautifully, with silhouettes and lighting effects that are breathtaking. 🚗For transportation, we recommend driving or renting a car for your island trip. Shared bicycles are also available, making getting around very convenient. 🏨For accommodation, we recommend a sea-view room near the Tropic of Cancer Square; the hotel we stayed at had a fantastic environment. You can try negotiating with the receptionist to upgrade to a suite with both sea and mountain views; they'll usually agree, and the experience is fantastic. The hotel is very close to the beach, just a 5-minute walk away. 🍤Of course, the food is a must. The seafood selection is abundant, including salt and pepper shrimp, scallops with vermicelli, and more. My top recommendation is the seaweed fried rice—it's absolutely delicious!

My child was so excited about the whale specimen, and was immediately overwhelmed by its sheer size. He cried... a true example of "Lord Ye's love of dragons" (a Chinese idiom meaning someone who professes to love something but is actually afraid of it)... hahaha. The guide was incredibly gentle and patient, and I thoroughly enjoyed the explanations! A million thumbs up!
This science and technology museum uses a "visible and tangible" approach to make dry scientific knowledge lively and engaging. Whether it's the basic science exhibition area for teenagers or the cutting-edge technology exhibition for adults, both areas offer tailored teaching methods. The exhibition areas feature concise and clear explanations, along with animated demonstrations and interactive experiments, making even complex physical laws easily accessible. More than just an exhibition space, it serves as a bridge connecting the public and science, making it a perfect base for popular science education.

Staying in a traditional earthen building with modern facilities, it's comfortable, pleasant, and elegant. The butler provides attentive one-on-one service, always ready to assist. It's a rural tourism experience that meets modern five-star service standards. I would definitely recommend it to friends!
Nanjing Tulou, a World Cultural Heritage site and a gem of traditional Chinese architecture, comprises over 1,300 buildings. Architecturally, Nanjing Tulou are unique in shape, adhering to the "round sky and square earth" concept, and come in various forms including round, square, and mansion-style. They ingeniously utilize the narrow, flat terrain in the mountains, perfectly combining traditional rammed earth construction techniques with the mortise-and-tenon method of building. For example, the Hegui Building, built on marshland, remains sturdy and stable after over 200 years. Defensively, Tulou are veritable fortresses. Their thick outer walls, lack of outward-facing windows on the first floor, and the presence of firing ports and watchtowers, along with sturdy gates equipped with fireproofing devices, effectively repelled external attacks. Culturally, Tulou served as ancestral homes, reflecting a strong sense of family and unity. Inside, ancestral halls and schools were often found, with couplets reflecting values such as diligence in farming and scholarship, loyalty, filial piety, benevolence, and righteousness, highlighting the tradition of valuing education. At the same time, the Tulou also carries the local folk culture, and residents still live in them, continuing the centuries-old atmosphere of life.
