Hey my dears, who understands? Only after visiting Lingshui did I understand what it means to "love you at first sight, but never return." This hidden corner of Hainan boasts a glassy sea that rivals the Maldives, soothing powder-soft beaches, and the magical experience of feeding manta rays... But it's so stunning, I'm afraid if I go back again, I'll never want to leave this paradise on earth! Today, I'm sharing all the treasures and "bitter lessons" I've uncovered in Lingshui. Get ready for this guide that's both a love and a hate story!
🌊[Those magical corners that haunt me]
Fenjiezhou Island
This is undoubtedly Lingshui's most beautiful spot! The water is as clear as a giant piece of turquoise glass, and the gradation from light to dark is breathtakingly beautiful. The island's "Ocean Theater" is a must-see. The clever dolphins and adorable sea lions perform with such soothing performances. You can even interact with manta rays up close and personal, hand-feeding them dried fish – the sensation is truly magical! For thrill seekers, try the cliff swings and zip lines. Overlooking the ocean from above is a thrilling experience, a thrilling mix of adrenaline and romance!
And the red and white lighthouse is the epitome of island charm. Just stop by and your Instagram account will be flooded with likes!
Qingshui Bay
It lives up to its reputation as a "singing beach"! The fine powder sand rustles underfoot, and you stroll barefoot on the beach, the waves gently lapping at your ankles. In the evening, watch the tangerine-pink sunset, and the world becomes a tranquil and beautiful place. It's much less crowded than Sanya, making it perfect for those who want to enjoy a quiet ocean view. Find a beachside cafe, order a drink, and spend the afternoon in a trance.
Nanwan Monkey Island
The cable car ride overlooking the Tanka fishing rafts and the ocean is a breathtaking sight! The monkeys on the island are lively and clever, but be sure to keep your food and belongings safe. Interacting with them is fun, but be careful not to be startled by their enthusiasm.
Daidai Island
This is a girly paradise! Colorful little houses, retro cars, and internet-famous swings...every corner is perfect for Instagram-worthy photos. The beach is clean and uncrowded, making it the perfect spot for a photoshoot in a beautiful dress, transporting you to a fairytale island.
🍤[An Island Feast for Your Taste]
Lingshui Sour Rice Noodles
A must-try Lingshui signature dish! The smooth rice noodles, rich in toppings, and the special sour sauce create a tangy and appetizing flavor. One bowl instantly awakens your taste buds and creates a unique Lingshui experience.
Hele Crab
One of Hainan's four famous dishes, this crab meat is plump and sweet. Whether steamed or stir-fried with spicy spices, it's a must-try for crab lovers.
Tanka Seafood
Enjoy fresh and affordable seafood on the Tanka fishing rafts near Nanwan Monkey Island! Freshly caught, cooked fish, shrimp, crab, and shellfish are cooked authentically, ensuring you can savor the most authentic seafood.
📍[Practical Tips from "Tears and Bitterness"]
1. Regarding Costs: Lingshui has many high-end hotels and restaurants, and prices are quite high, especially in scenic areas like Fenjiezhou Island. So, budget-friendly options are recommended. Alternatively, you can find affordable B&Bs and local eateries like I did, allowing you to experience the local culture while saving a little money.
2. Regarding Transportation: Lingshui is conveniently located with both an airport and a high-speed rail station. Taxis are also readily available within the city, but for scenic spots, it's recommended to plan your route in advance or rent a car for more flexibility and enjoy the island scenery along the way. 3. About the Season: November to April is the best time to visit, with sunny weather and little rain, and the water is clearer. However, this is also peak tourist season, so prices and crowds are likely to rise. May to October is off-season, with fewer people and lower prices, but typhoons and heavy rain are possible, so each has its pros and cons.
4. About Going to the Sea: Be sure to check the tide table beforehand, otherwise you'll likely return empty-handed. Going to the area near Xincun Port is a good option. Remember to bring tools and a bucket. With a bit of luck, you might find plenty of shells and crabs—a truly immersive experience!
My dears, Lingshui's beauty is breathtaking. Its sea, its sand, and its charming scenery all make you want to stay. But precisely because it's so beautiful, I hesitate to go back easily, fearing I'll become even more attached to it. But if you haven't been to Lingshui yet, I highly recommend putting it on your travel list to experience the awe of the glassy sea and the slow pace of island life.
