Baotu Spring, located in the heart of Jinan's ancient city, is considered one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Jinan during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Emperor Qianlong, during his southern tour, tasted the spring and crowned it "the best spring under heaven."
The spring's banks bear the legacy of numerous imperial inscriptions. The gold plaque with a blue background reading "Baotu Spring" at the south gate was written by Emperor Qianlong, and the "Double Imperial Stele" beside the pool is inscribed with poems by Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong. This area has also been a popular haunt for scholars and literati. Guanlan Pavilion, built in 1461, was once home to Su Shi, who arranged flowers and composed poetry. The Li Qingzhao Memorial Hall, built near Shuyu Spring, features a couplet inscribed by Guo Moruo, linking the spirit of poetry with the rhythm of the spring, highlighting its profound cultural heritage.
The park boasts breathtaking scenery, and its landscape architecture surpasses even that of Suzhou.
