The Changli Golden Coast is located in the southeastern part of Changli County, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, bordering the Bohai Sea. Its coastline stretches 52.1 kilometers and covers a total area of 3.76 million square meters. Formed by the alluvial deposits of the Luan River and the dynamics of the ocean, the area is characterized by fine sand, gentle shoals, and clear water. It is dotted with crescent-shaped dunes 30-40 meters high, creating a rare marine desert landscape. Designated a national marine nature reserve in 1990, the area encompasses a complex landscape of dunes, lagoons, and wetlands, and is home to rare species such as lancelets and black-headed gulls. In 1985, China's first sandboarding site was established, pioneering the sport. In 2005, the area was selected as one of China's eight most beautiful coastlines. The scenic area offers attractions such as hot air balloons and jet skis, and draws visitors with cultural landmarks such as the Aranya Community Hall and the Lonely Library. The coastal water quality meets Class I standards, the bathing area is highly safe, and the surrounding transportation network connects to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Northeast China. It now serves both ecological conservation and tourism purposes, offering a diverse range of leisure experiences, including sand bathing and sea bathing. The Qinhuangdao Golden Coast is located in Changli County, Qinhuangdao City, 17 kilometers east of the Beidaihe coast and southwest of the Luanhe River estuary. This 52.1-kilometer-long coastline boasts soft, golden-yellow sand, earning it the name. The Golden Coast covers a total area of 3.76 million square meters and can accommodate nearly 100 bathing beaches. With its fine sand, gentle shoals, clear water, and low tides, swimming from anywhere is assured of no risk of scratches from rocks or drowning. Even when venturing over 50 meters into the sea, the water remains waist-deep, making it an ideal natural bathing spot. On the west side of the Qinhuangdao Golden Coast, over 5,000 hectares of winding sand dunes stretch for over 40 kilometers, reaching a maximum depth of over 40 meters. In 1985, the people of Changli established a sandboarding facility here, bringing the Golden Coast international fame. Currently, there are two sandboarding facilities: one leading from the sand dunes down to the valley floor, and the other leading directly to the sea.
The Gold Coast's sandboarding facility is currently the second largest in the world, after South Africa and Namibia. When visiting the Gold Coast, a visit to the sandboarding facility is a must. Arriving in the morning will save you time and waiting in line. Sandboarders are transported to the top of a sand hill by cable car, then slide down on a sandboard. As the slope and inertia increase, their speed increases, creating a whistling sensation. Once they reach the valley, their inertia propels them dozens of meters further on flat ground. At another point, they can plunge into the sea. This thrilling yet risk-free activity offers a sense of novelty and excitement. While the sandboarding facility on the Gold Coast in Qinhuangdao is unique, the land, sea, and air tourism options are also exceptional. Yachts can be enjoyed on the water, reaching speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour. There are three types of yachts: transport boats, recreational boats, and luxury boats. Cruises can be made in the shallow sea or as far as Emerald Island. For an aerial tour, you can take an American-made helicopter and soar through the sky, taking in the surrounding scenic spots and the ten scenic spots on Jieshi Mountain. In addition, the sky is also equipped with a Taiwanese-style flying White House, hot air balloons, jumping castles, etc.
