The Offering Hall: A Jin Dynasty structure, a "natural refrigerator" for offering sacrifices. The Fish Pond Flying Bridge: China's earliest "overpass," with a history of over 1500 years. Song Dynasty Painted Sculpture of Female Attendants: A unique feature of Jinci Temple. ✅Zhou Cypress: Over 3000 years old.

It is a national key cultural relics protection unit and a national 4A-level tourist attraction. Jinci is world-renowned for its ancient architecture, sculptures, famous springs, and ancient trees. The temple grounds are beautiful, with magnificent buildings and numerous halls, pavilions, towers, terraces, bridges, and waterside pavilions dotting the landscape. Hukou Waterfall is absolutely stunning! The Yellow River crashes down with a thunderous roar, creating a mist that fills the air and makes your heart pound. Standing right in front of it, you truly understand what "the Yellow River roaring" means. Just a heads-up, ladies, the mud is incredibly sticky! Your shoes and pants will be soaked in no time. I suggest wearing old clothes or bringing a disposable raincoat, otherwise your photos will be nothing but muddy backgrounds.
The waterfall is magnificent, with the surging Yellow River displaying the power of a thousand horses. In the Dragon Cave, you can even capture the breathtaking scene of the golden river cascading down, making it an excellent tourist destination.

While many ancient cities and towns in China are quite commercialized and have similar shops, Pingyao Ancient City stands out with its large scale, elegant Chinese architecture, and vibrant local life. It's a much more worthwhile destination than most other ancient cities.
The tour guide picked us up from the hotel early, and the route was well-planned. After the shuttle bus took us to our destination, the guide would arrive at the exit early according to his schedule, ensuring no time was wasted. We visited most of the major attractions, and the guide provided detailed explanations. He was patient and the tour was great value for money.

The Wooden Pagoda is easily accessible by direct bus from downtown Datong. It's a traditional wooden structure built with mortise and tenon joints without nails. Despite its tilted shape, it has stood for a thousand years. The five-story, six-eaved structure, along with its colorful sculptures and murals, tells ancient stories and is truly breathtaking. Although only one floor is currently open to the public, it still evokes a powerful sense of awe and wonder at China's ancient culture.
Yingxian Wooden Pagoda: Its real name is "Sakyamuni Pagoda of Fogong Temple." It is nearly 1000 years old. It is the tallest and oldest existing pure wooden pavilion-style building in the world, and is known as one of the "Three Great Towers of the World," along with the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Eiffel Tower. It was built entirely using mortise and tenon joints, without a single nail or piece of iron. Having withstood numerous earthquakes and wars over the past millennium, it still stands, a true wonder of the world. The pagoda is adorned with numerous plaques, creating a magnificent sight.

5 stars! A millennium-old miracle on the cliff, breathtakingly stunning! A must-see landmark in Datong! Seeing the Hanging Temple in person truly reveals the meaning of "a magnificent spectacle"—the entire temple is embedded in the cliff face of Mount Heng's Cuiping Peak, supported only by 27 hemlock beams. From a distance, it looks like a pavilion suspended in mid-air; the architectural wisdom of the ancients is truly divine! Buying the 100 yuan entrance fee makes the trip worthwhile! The narrow walkway allows only one person to pass at a time. Holding onto the railing, with a deep canyon below and a thousand-year-old wooden structure beside you, every step is both thrilling and mesmerizing. The Three Religions Hall in the North Tower is absolutely stunning, with statues of Shakyamuni, Confucius, and Lao Tzu enshrined together—a rare "three religions in one" arrangement nationwide. The magnificent stone inscription by Li Bai in front of the temple is a must-see. The poet's addition perfectly captures the essence of this extraordinary sight. The scenic area is well-managed. Making a reservation in advance via their official WeChat account avoids long queues, and staff will remind you of safety precautions. Wearing non-slip shoes is recommended, and those with a fear of heights should be cautious when climbing the plank road! After your visit, stop by Hunyuan County for a bowl of spicy and refreshing Hunyuan cold noodles, paired with oat noodles – a truly satisfying authentic northern Shanxi flavor. If you have enough time, definitely combine the Hanging Temple, Hengshan Mountain, and Yingxian Wooden Pagoda into a one-day tour, unlocking three ancient architectural wonders in one go! It's absolutely the most unforgettable highlight of your Shanxi trip, highly recommended for anyone who loves culture and nature! Would you like me to create a detailed one-day itinerary for the Hanging Temple + Hengshan Mountain, marking transportation and must-try restaurants?
The visitor center, a project costing over 2 billion yuan, is very impressive. Free lockers are available before purchasing tickets, freeing up your hands. Due to my fear of heights, I didn't choose to climb the mountain. A 7-minute shuttle bus ride takes you directly to the foot of the mountain, and the Hanging Temple is just a short walk away. The entire ticket purchase process can be done via mobile phone, which is very convenient.

The best time to go is in the morning, when the light is best. If you go in the afternoon, the weather needs to be good enough. Inside the magnificent main hall, which uses 14 kilograms of gold, I spent over an hour looking up repeatedly. My neck pain is almost cured! Aside from the main hall, the rest of the hall isn't particularly impressive. A slight drawback is that the security guards kept reminding everyone to leave quickly, which is understandable given the sheer number of people. I imagine there will be fewer people in winter when it's cold, allowing for a quieter contemplation and communion with the thousand Buddhas across time. Once you're there, you'll know it was worth the trip; it's truly breathtaking. Absolutely breathtaking. Absolutely breathtaking.
It was incredibly impressive and awe-inspiring. Experiencing 600 years of history, interacting with the ancients, and having a unique experience is truly remarkable. It's definitely worth bringing children to see. It's very crowded, but it's absolutely worth the visit!

The Hukou Waterfall is breathtaking and a sight to behold. It's a bit far from Xi'an, but everything else is wonderful. I highly recommend it. Booking tickets in advance through Ctrip offers even lower prices, and admission is free for those over 60, which is a great policy.
I'd passed by Hukou Waterfall several times before, and finally decided to come in this time. The area around the scenic spot is very convenient for food and lodging, and the scenic area itself is huge. It's located at the border of Shaanxi and Shanxi provinces; I was on the Shaanxi side, and the Yellow River flows right across to Shanxi. The riverbanks were packed with tourists. The sheer scale of the waterfall was astounding. Even before I arrived, the roar of the water was deafening. Reaching the edge of the cliff, seeing the Yellow River's turbid waves cascading down was awe-inspiring, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe. Hukou Waterfall truly lived up to its name!

Because the "Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils" program included a special itinerary at Yanmen Pass, even during the winter holidays, it wasn't too crowded. It's a magnificent pass, definitely worth a visit. Climb the mountain and experience the feeling of iron horses and golden spears.
Yanmen Pass, the first pass of China. This trip with my parents was a bit cold, the temperature dropped suddenly, but thankfully I brought down jackets! You really need to bring some warm clothes when visiting Shanxi in November, otherwise you really can't stand it!

The scenery is nice and the bus is very convenient, good reviews! But the consumption level in the scenic area is a bit high, especially in some farmhouse restaurants, where two people can eat more than 100 yuan, while other places in the mountains only cost dozens of yuan.
The tour is very nice and I visited many temple which is very peaceful. The guide is also polite and helpful.

Because I didn't want to drag my suitcase while rushing to catch the bus, I stored my luggage at the exit of the high-speed rail station. It was a small fast-food restaurant. Although I had already bought a group-buying deal and wanted to try Wang's Tofu, I ate there for convenience. The prices were reasonable. There were drivers soliciting business outside, offering shared rides for 5 yuan each. Because we ate late, we got a separate ride for 15 yuan, which was acceptable. The Wang Family Compound is grand and impressive, with exquisite architectural carvings. The brick, wood, and stone carvings showcase the craftsmanship and rich history. Personally, I think it's unnecessary to hire a guide; you can research beforehand. There are many guides giving explanations during the tour, so you can listen in.
The Wang family, once the richest family in Shanxi, built such a grand compound through generations of hard work. It's unimaginable unless you see it with your own eyes. With over two thousand rooms, it's twice the size of the Forbidden City. Absolutely stunning!
