Winter Solstice Limited Edition: A 30,000-Step Walk Through Sanqingshan and Wangxian Valley! A Travelogue with Perfect Weather!
The 32nd day of 2025 coincided with the Beginning of Winter, and we kicked off our winter escape plan with a trip to "see the fairy mountain after the rain"!
At 7:43 AM sharp, we checked into the Jinsha Cableway. Clutching our 245 RMB adult and 185 RMB senior tickets, we braved the light rain and boarded the cable car, muttering, "Is this Beginning of Winter rain going to soak us to the bone?" But wait! The rain stopped abruptly as soon as we got off the cable car, and the clouds dispersed as if on rewind, revealing the unique peaks and rocks of Sanqingshan—the weather was so biased! It was like it cleared the way for us to enjoy the beautiful scenery!
As a "triple crown" of National 5A, World Natural Heritage, and Geopark, Sanqingshan truly lives up to its reputation! The S-shaped granite formations from the Early Cretaceous are truly remarkable! The "Giant Python Emerging from the Mountain," a 128-meter-long rock formation piercing the sky, looks exactly like a giant python just awakened from its slumber, as if eager to show everyone it's the "world's tallest natural python peak." The "Eastern Goddess" formation is also a perfect recreation, its graceful and ethereal figure in a long dress almost enveloping you in fairy-like beauty. Today, I witnessed firsthand the so-called "four wonders": strange peaks and rocks, ancient trees and famous flowers, flowing springs and waterfalls, and seas of clouds and mist. Every step I took in the mountains was awe-inspiring: this isn't just a mountain, it's a top-tier sculpture exhibition by nature! The Taoist culture is also incredibly rich, with over 230 ancient architectural remains hidden in the mountains. The Sanqing Palace, with its Bagua layout, truly deserves the title of "open-air museum of ancient Chinese Taoist architecture." Wandering around, I felt like I was about to achieve immortality!
Starting from the right side of Sanqing Mountain, I completed a central loop and descended the mountain promptly at 12:30. My legs were starting to tremble slightly, but my happiness was off the charts! After resting until 3:30, we rushed to Wangxian Valley. Tickets were 140 yuan each, less than the half-price for those over 60, highlighting the "spend money for happiness without feeling guilty" concept. To be honest, Wangxian Valley was rather unremarkable during the day, but the moment night fell and the lights came on, it was a complete eye-opener! The entire valley transformed into a dreamlike fairyland. The guesthouses on the cliffs, the lights on the boardwalks, and the towering Wangxian Pavilion—climbing up to overlook the panoramic view made me forget my leg pain and only leave me with awe.
As a national 4A scenic area, Wangxian Valley holds countless surprises: the bottomless pothole wonders of the Three Pots, the cascading waterfalls of the Three Cascades, and the lifelike granite landscape of the Azure Dragon Playing with a Pearl; the Yang Mansion and Hu Clan Ancestral Hall in Yanpu Old Street, with their blue tiles, brick walls, and wooden mortise and tenon joints, and exquisite wood carvings and stone sculptures; and most amazingly, the suspended glass rooms and cliffside restaurant at Baihe Cliff—just looking at them is thrilling! Next time, I must stay overnight to experience "viewing the scenery suspended in mid-air"...
And now for the highlight! My step count jumped over 30,000 today! On the first day of winter, while others were warming up with milk tea, we were hiking 25,000 li (not really) in Shangrao, Jiangxi. From the ethereal mist of Sanqing Mountain to the dazzling lights of Wangxian Valley, my legs felt like they weren't even mine anymore, but my heart was soaring with freedom!
