It was my first time in Xinjiang. The tour guide I booked was very nice. He contacted us in advance and informed us of the walking route, parking location, and tips for entering the museum. He also gave very good explanations and a wide range of knowledge. He combined our basic understanding of Xinjiang with a targeted introduction. He also had a very good grasp of the rhythm and the content of the explanation was easy to understand. It was a very good experience.
Teacher He's explanations were excellent, with clear content and vivid stories. Visiting the museum gave me a brief understanding of Xinjiang's history and culture, like being in a time-travel drama, traveling through time and space. I particularly enjoyed the following exhibits and related explanations: "Five Stars Rising from the East, Blessing China," the Loulan Beauty and the mummified body of the Xiaohe Princess, and the story about the joint burial of a man and a woman at the Subexi Cemetery. It was so informative and fascinating. Thank you, Teacher He! It really gave us a deeper understanding of the beauty of Xinjiang!

Grape Valley, as a scenic spot, is very large. I heard that it is 8 kilometers one way, with a total of 5 parking spots. The equestrian show was also fantastic. With the commentator's explanation, handsome horses made their grand entrances. Under the skillful guidance of the equestrian, they showed off their unique skills. There were also performances like chasing girls, horseback archery, and sheep-catching. The cutest one, pictured in Figure 5, was the smallest horse in the world. Don't be fooled by its small size; it ran incredibly fast.
I came here 10 years ago. At that time, there were not so many business types and it was not a tourist attraction. It has changed a lot. You can see the Arabian horses up close, feed them, touch them, and take all kinds of photos. The only thing is that the carrots are too expensive, 30/a small bunch. Remember to buy carrots (cut into strips) outside, it’s cheaper.

This scenic area is a bit small, and I finished it in less than an hour, but it was quite interesting to see the various structures of the Karez. Parking is very convenient, with a large parking lot at the entrance. It is also located in Turpan City, making it easy to drive.
The reservation was quite rushed, and later I found out that there are three scenic spots in Karez, Folk Custom Park, Jiaoheyi and Karez Paradise. The Folk Custom Park is closer to the city, and there is an old man's shop at the door that you can visit together. Jiaoheyi and the paradise are together, a little farther from the city, but it is said that Jiaoheyi can go down 60 meters underground for a better experience, but the Folk Custom Park is bigger.

The second self-driving tour in Xinjiang, which lasted nearly a month, started in June 2024. At the end of the trip, we came to Bosten Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Xinjiang. If Sayram Lake is fascinating with its snow-capped mountains, Bosten Lake is known for its vastness. The entire lake area is divided into several scenic spots that need to be visited separately. The Bailuzhou scenic spot was closed and could not be visited. I went to Lianhai World first, and then to Dahekou Scenic Area.
A place worth visiting in southern Xinjiang, it was called Bosten Nur in ancient times. You can swim and row a boat. You can enjoy the sunset and sunrise. The highway in the center of the lake is also a beautiful scenery. The surrounding scenic spots are generally developed. But it has a more primitive flavor. The reeds and water lilies in Bohu Lake are unique. The new highway around the lake is convenient for sightseeing.

The same karez, built over three generations by the Baiyi family, has been divided into four scenic areas with similar names. It's best to visit one of these. Locals recommend the Karez Park, also known as the Old Well. It houses a museum that explains the principles of the karez clearly and concisely. The guides are excellent, explaining the history, how to find a water source, and how to determine the direction of the well. You can go down into the culvert to feel the water. There are also demonstrations of vertical wells, open channels, and the process of well drilling. The culvert has been carefully preserved to show you the original height of the culvert (Figure 4). There's also a display of the house of an old well-driller, and we even ran into one of the old well-drillers! There's a large grape corridor and grape drying room, perfect for photo opportunities! It's a great place for a family outing and educational activities. The fruit at the entrance stall is cheap and delicious, but prices inside the area are higher, so I wouldn't recommend buying anything. Across the street from the area, there's a local restaurant that looks quite good. It's a great place worth a visit!
