It's beautiful and I can't take it all in. The teacher explained it in detail and the children listened attentively. The teacher also let the children ask questions on the spot and he answered them. 👍👍Starting from the origin of the grottoes, from ancient times to the present, both in China and abroad, he talked about a lot of knowledge points, thumbs up👍
Standing before the Yungang Grottoes, I was truly awestruck. Those thousand-year-old Buddha statues, some still vibrantly colored, still stand there. If possible, definitely book a guided tour! We only had a standard tour, which was a bit disappointing. We arrived late, so only the standard tour was available. What a shame.

The four hours spent exploring the area, steeped in history and featuring exquisite gardens, flew by with the guide's guidance. The three national treasure buildings and three unique features offer a stunning display of classical culture. Highly recommended!
After returning from Mount Wutai, I specifically chose to stay at the Jinci Hotel so I could easily access the temple the next day. It was very convenient. The temple and the entire park are beautiful, with many thousand-year-old and century-old trees. They're well-maintained, with each tree bearing a plaque that easily identifies its name and age. A big plus! 👍 The temple contains many ancient buildings, and there are on-site guides available. Unfortunately, it was probably the last week before summer vacation, so the park was packed. Adults and children had to queue everywhere, so I didn't get to explore every detail. I'll take a closer look next time.

Shuanglin Temple is worth a visit. It is very close to Pingyao Ancient City and Pingyao Ancient City High-speed Railway Station. The cultural relics inside are very old and worth a visit.
The ticket is worth it. If you don't buy a ticket in the ancient city, there are several streets, where you can eat and drink. It would be boring if you don't visit the escort agency, the City God Temple, the county government office, the city wall, etc.

The crisp sound of bells, a sky filled with flying swallows. A glance that spans a thousand years brings tears to my eyes. The world's three greatest towers, because they are unreplicable. Current technology cannot replicate them. So, every time I see them, I see them less and less.
When my children were about to start elementary school, I took them to the beautiful Datong and then to the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, a world wonder. They learned through traveling and felt the profoundness of Chinese culture through learning.

The Hanging Temple is more than just a tourist attraction; it's a spiritual haven where one can find inner peace. Standing high atop the temple, gazing out at the rolling mountains in the distance and the lush green pines and cypresses nearby, all worries seem to drift away. Upon first viewing the Hanging Temple, the most awe-inspiring aspect is its unique location—it appears suspended above a cliff face, supported by only a few seemingly fragile wooden pillars, yet it has withstood thousands of years of wind and rain. This design not only demonstrates the ancient craftsmen's exquisite application of mechanical principles but also embodies the philosophy of harmonious coexistence between man and nature. Whenever clouds and mist shroud the Hanging Temple, it looms, resembling a tower in a fairyland, inspiring awe.
Luggage storage at the Hanging Temple is inconvenient. Taxis only go to the entrance, and you still have to walk over a kilometer to the visitor center with your suitcase. I recommend leaving your luggage at the Hengshan Visitor Center or at your hotel and taking a taxi there. For those visiting Hengshan and the Hanging Temple, I recommend buying a shuttle bus for 20 yuan per person. However, for those who don't visit Hengshan and only want to visit the Hanging Temple, the service is less friendly. Taxis won't let you into the parking lot, even if it's empty. The parking lot is about 500 to 600 meters from the visitor center, which is quite uncomfortable with your suitcase. I recommend setting up luggage storage at the entrance. Alternatively, you can get a round-trip ticket from Hengshan to the Hanging Temple for a cheaper price, as not everyone wants to visit Hengshan.

The Thousand Buddha Hall is not big, but there are many Buddha statues that are lifelike. However, there are too many people taking photos. There is almost no one outside, and everyone is crowded inside. It would be better to strengthen the management, make the flow of people around, and limit the number of people in the hall at the same time.
The full marks are all for the hanging sculptures in the Main Hall. I followed the Black Mythology all the way here. The previous temples have their own merits, but the shock that Xiaoxitian gives you is not a little bit. Only when you stand in it and look up, can you feel the visual and spiritual impact it brings to you. Friends have seen a lot of pictures, I will post a few to join in the fun😀😀

Huayan Temple is located in Datong Ancient City. It is easy to find. It is quite large and you can spend a long time there. You can go there during the day and take in the night view of Datong Ancient City at night. It has a unique flavor.
I highly recommend visiting Huayan Temple. From the architecture to the figures, from the Buddha statues to the murals, it's truly worth a visit. The bronze underground palace, the only one of its kind in China, is especially impressive, as the Buddha relics within can be viewed up close. Be sure to ask for a guide to fully appreciate the charm of ancient architectural techniques!

If you have faith, go to Mount Wutai. If you like taking photos, go to Mount Wutai. If you hike, you must climb to the Big Snail Peak. Climb the 1,008 steps to see all the other mountains. The mountain is in the clouds, the temple is in the mountain, and you are in the temple.
🌿 August Zhangzhou Wutai Mountain Travel Review 🌿 1️⃣ The climate is pleasant, the summer resort Wutai Mountain has a high altitude, and the average temperature in August is between 10℃-20℃, and the maximum temperature rarely exceeds 25℃. Xiantong Temple, Tayuan Temple, Bodhisattva Ding and other temples have a long history and magnificent architecture, which is a good place to feel Buddhist culture. 3️⃣ Wutai Mountain is composed of a series of mountains and peaks. The top of the five platforms has a wide view and spectacular scenery. Dongtai Wanghaifeng can watch the sunrise and clouds. It's a very historical place that has witnessed the changes and development of local history and culture. It's a very good experience. I suggest you go and have a look if you have time. It's a very good place.
Zhang Yimou's film "Raise the Red Lantern" has immortalized the red lanterns of the Qiao Family Compound in our hearts. The once-popular TV series "Qiao Family Compound" further showcases the cultural heritage of this compound and the legacy of the Qiao family, a prominent Shanxi merchant family. The Qiao Family Compound boasts a rigorous layout, ingenious design, and meticulously crafted bricks and tiles, meticulously crafted with detailed brackets and eaves, and richly decorated with gold. The entire compound is awash with brick, wood, and stone carvings. Various motifs symbolizing auspiciousness, enlightenment, and hope adorn the door lintels, beams, guardrails, eaves, window frames, and screen walls. The courtyard is imbued with a humanistic charm and a vibrant spirit.

Yanmen Pass, a strategically important pass in Chinese history, is located in Dai County, Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province. It is a crucial gateway on the Great Wall and is known as "Yanmen Pass is the foremost of the Nine Fortresses under Heaven." It deserves the title of "China's First Pass." As one of the most important passes on the Great Wall, Yanmen Pass lies at the chokepoint of northern Shanxi, boasting a precarious terrain ("One man guarding the pass, ten thousand men cannot break through"). Since its establishment by King Wuling of Zhao during the Warring States Period, it has been a fixture of nearly every aspect of ancient Chinese military history. From the Han Dynasty's campaign against the Xiongnu, the Tang Dynasty's defense against the Turks, the Song Dynasty's resistance against the Liao and Jin dynasties, and the Ming Dynasty's defense against the Mongols, this pass witnessed countless battles that determined the fate of the Central Plains dynasties. The legends of renowned generals such as Li Mu, Meng Tian, Wei Qing, Huo Qubing, Xue Rengui, and the Yang Family Generals are all intertwined here, demonstrating its irreplaceable strategic importance. Yanmen Pass was not only a battlefield but also a window through which the agricultural civilization of the Central Plains and the nomadic civilization of the north collided and exchanged. Yanmen Pass has become a symbol of the spirit of the frontier in poetry and novels. Li He's "Song of the Prefect of Yanmen" ("Black clouds bear down on the city, threatening to collapse") vividly depicts the desolate garrison there; in Jin Yong's "Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils," Xiao Feng commits suicide here, bringing his personal fate and the feud between his family and his country to a climax—these literary interpretations have heightened the tragic grandeur and cultural appeal of Yanmen Pass. "Symbol of Loyalty and Bravery" in Folklore In the story of the Yang Family Generals, Yang Ye and his descendants defended Yanmen Pass for a long time, fighting bloody battles against the Liao army. This has made Yanmen Pass a spiritual totem of loyalty and patriotism in folklore. Yanmen Pass = Ancient China's "First Pass Under Heaven" One of the most crucial passes on the Great Wall, it was like an ancient "military gate." Whoever controlled it held the key to the Central Plains. For two thousand years, almost every major war in northern China has been linked to it! Huo Qubing's battles against the Xiongnu, the Yang Family Generals' resistance against the Liao...countless famous generals left their mark here. ✔️ Military Fortress: Easy to defend and difficult to attack, a battleground for military strategists. ✔️ A symbol of tragedy and grandeur: In poetry and novels, it is often imbued with desolate, loyal, and patriotic sentiments. ✔️ A channel for communication: Not only a battlefield, but also a corridor for interethnic trade and cultural exchange. If you want to experience the warlike cavalry and patriotic sentiments of ancient Chinese history, Yanmen Pass is one of the most representative locations.
