I'd seen short videos of NPC interactions at Xuzhou Amusement Park and decided to check it out.
Upon entering, I discovered it was an established amusement park, majority owned by the listed Suzhou High-Tech, a state-owned enterprise in Suzhou. The park's online promotion was quite good, and many people, like me, must have come because of the eye-catching NPCs.
The rides were essentially the same, but the lines were definitely shorter than at the Shanghai amusement park. The park must have outsourced the NPC activities to a private company, which wasn't quite what I'd expected. It seemed like each NPC had developed their own fan base, and there were formal lines for photos and interactions, a bit like an underground idol fan meeting. I tried it, and each NPC queued for about 20 minutes, with each line around 10 people. Each person spent quite a bit of time interacting with the NPCs, roughly two minutes. The NPCs are indeed very handsome. Some are new, while others are permanent. I met "Wen Yan" and "Sleeping Sheep," both of whom are handsome and easygoing. While their work is quite demanding, everyone follows a relatively standardized process, allowing fans to capture the right photos and videos.
However, I still have some suggestions for improvement for Xuzhou Paradise: 1. Actively research NPC interaction models. Currently, NPC interaction is disconnected from the overall park atmosphere. The fans NPCs serve are essentially separated from the tourists themselves, with no real connection. 2. Increase the randomness of NPCs in the park and provide a stronger interactive experience. This will better integrate NPCs into the park's core, encouraging first-time visitors to visit more frequently or recommend it to others. 3. Increase the NPCs' attributes related to Xuzhou Park and local culture. The park will invest in traffic, but ultimately retain some of the park's own IP. The park's NPCs can help promote the park and Xuzhou (Jiangsu) in daily activities, rather than simply turning them into fan meetings. In that case, it wouldn't matter whether they were held in Xuzhou Park, another amusement park, Yunlong Lake, or any random teahouse. This would also be better for the NPCs' long-term career development, allowing them to share in the park's increased revenue.
