Route B takes a scenic minibus from the city center to the mountain ticket gate, then takes a large cable car halfway up the mountain. Descending is at the top, where you'll take a small cable car back to the city center. I personally find this route less crowded and more relaxing for scenic views. Returning directly to the city center is also more convenient.

I originally wanted to book round-trip scenic shuttle and cable car tickets to Fanjing Mountain through the official Fanjing Mountain mini-program, but the app required separate bookings for each person, which was too much of a hassle. Later, I discovered that Ctrip was handling the online booking process, so I was able to use it on the train to Tongren to secure tickets for three people. Thank you, Ctrip, for making this easy for us elderly people. Although I can't climb Hongyunjinding and Laojinding due to my age, I can still take the cable car up the mountain. And yesterday was a beautiful day, so I was able to take in the breathtaking sea of clouds of Fanjing Mountain. It was truly captivating and delightful!
Fanjing Mountain, its name has religious and philosophical connotations. It's the first time a mountain's name has made me feel this way: the pure land of Brahma, so profound.
But the mountain is quite difficult to climb! And there's heavy fog. It's said that clear skies are rare at Fanjing Mountain, but this much fog is unheard of. 😂 The Golden Summit, with its two isolated peaks connected by a bridge, is truly astonishing. I understand the Creator God, but how did he build the roads, bridges, and temples? Amazing!

The scenery lived up to its reputation. It was a shame the Yunlong Ground Fissure wasn't open. It was a real leg-killer, taking over six hours. I highly recommend using hiking poles. We rented them at the entrance, which at least saved us some effort.

Of course, a visit to the Three Gorges Dam is a must for a national monument. My self-driving trip took just over three hours, and I wasn't pressed for time. The route was pretty good, but you had to get off at each stop and go to the transfer center to get to the next one. You couldn't skip any you didn't want to see, which was a bit inconvenient. The best parking spot is P1, which is closest to the visitor center.

Since we were traveling light, we had to go back to the car to get an umbrella, tell the staff. The area is worth a visit, but the signage isn't very clear. For example, the boat ride directions are listed on the ticket, but there's no signage or explanation inside the area, which isn't very convenient for individual tourists, especially the elderly, unless they can understand the map.

This is my second time going to Fairy Mountain in Wulong. The previous time was in late November in late autumn and it was quite cold. This time it was during the National Day holiday and the temperature on Fairy Mountain was very comfortable. It is a good place to escape the summer heat.
