Jinci Museum is located at the foot of Xuanweng Mountain, 25 kilometers southwest of Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, at the source of the Jin River. It is a national key cultural relics protection unit and a national 4A-level tourist attraction. Jinci is world-renowned for its ancient architecture, sculptures, famous springs, and ancient trees. The temple grounds are beautiful, with magnificent buildings and numerous halls, pavilions, towers, terraces, bridges, and waterside pavilions dotting the landscape. The ancient trees are lush and the scenery is picturesque.
I've been to Taiyuan many times, but this was my first time visiting Jinci Temple. I arrived just in time to see the ginkgo leaves turn yellow, it was especially beautiful. The architecture of Jinci Temple is also very distinctive; it was definitely worth the trip.

Hukou Waterfall is absolutely stunning! The Yellow River crashes down with a thunderous roar, creating a mist that fills the air and makes your heart pound. Standing right in front of it, you truly understand what "the Yellow River roaring" means. Just a heads-up, ladies, the mud is incredibly sticky! Your shoes and pants will be soaked in no time. I suggest wearing old clothes or bringing a disposable raincoat, otherwise your photos will be nothing but muddy backgrounds.
The waterfall is magnificent, with the surging Yellow River displaying the power of a thousand horses. In the Dragon Cave, you can even capture the breathtaking scene of the golden river cascading down, making it an excellent tourist destination.

While many ancient cities and towns in China are quite commercialized and have similar shops, Pingyao Ancient City stands out with its large scale, elegant Chinese architecture, and vibrant local life. It's a much more worthwhile destination than most other ancient cities.
The tour guide picked us up from the hotel early, and the route was well-planned. After the shuttle bus took us to our destination, the guide would arrive at the exit early according to his schedule, ensuring no time was wasted. We visited most of the major attractions, and the guide provided detailed explanations. He was patient and the tour was great value for money.

The best time to go is in the morning, when the light is best. If you go in the afternoon, the weather needs to be good enough. Inside the magnificent main hall, which uses 14 kilograms of gold, I spent over an hour looking up repeatedly. My neck pain is almost cured! Aside from the main hall, the rest of the hall isn't particularly impressive. A slight drawback is that the security guards kept reminding everyone to leave quickly, which is understandable given the sheer number of people. I imagine there will be fewer people in winter when it's cold, allowing for a quieter contemplation and communion with the thousand Buddhas across time. Once you're there, you'll know it was worth the trip; it's truly breathtaking. Absolutely breathtaking. Absolutely breathtaking.
It was incredibly impressive and awe-inspiring. Experiencing 600 years of history, interacting with the ancients, and having a unique experience is truly remarkable. It's definitely worth bringing children to see. It's very crowded, but it's absolutely worth the visit!

This is my second time here, this time with my three-year-old. Since we've never seen such a large beach before, we had a lot of fun. However, for adults, the other activities are all paid, so the value for money isn't quite right.
Today, Ordos is increasingly green, and it's rare to find such a small patch of desert left for tourists to experience. There are plenty of recreational activities, and the service is generally good. My summer trip was long ago, but the dark clouds and lightning over the desert during the thunderstorms remain vividly in my memory.

The Hukou Waterfall is breathtaking and a sight to behold. It's a bit far from Xi'an, but everything else is wonderful. I highly recommend it. Booking tickets in advance through Ctrip offers even lower prices, and admission is free for those over 60, which is a great policy.
I'd passed by Hukou Waterfall several times before, and finally decided to come in this time. The area around the scenic spot is very convenient for food and lodging, and the scenic area itself is huge. It's located at the border of Shaanxi and Shanxi provinces; I was on the Shaanxi side, and the Yellow River flows right across to Shanxi. The riverbanks were packed with tourists. The sheer scale of the waterfall was astounding. Even before I arrived, the roar of the water was deafening. Reaching the edge of the cliff, seeing the Yellow River's turbid waves cascading down was awe-inspiring, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe. Hukou Waterfall truly lived up to its name!

Because the "Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils" program included a special itinerary at Yanmen Pass, even during the winter holidays, it wasn't too crowded. It's a magnificent pass, definitely worth a visit. Climb the mountain and experience the feeling of iron horses and golden spears.
Yanmen Pass, the first pass of China. This trip with my parents was a bit cold, the temperature dropped suddenly, but thankfully I brought down jackets! You really need to bring some warm clothes when visiting Shanxi in November, otherwise you really can't stand it!

I came to the Qiao Family Compound because of the TV series, but it was almost closing time when I arrived. I hired a guided tour and walked through each courtyard like a special forces soldier, and saw the "treasures" hidden in the compound. The original owner's design requirements and architectural ideas for the entire compound were truly remarkable.
I drove through Shanxi, visiting the Li Family Mansion in Yuncheng, the Ma Family Mansion in Pingyao, the Wang Family Mansion, and the Cao Family Mansion. The Qiao Family Mansion was the best experience of all. The architecture was exquisite, the management was excellent, and the official explanations were very helpful. It's clear that with its fame and established reputation, both its operations and management have kept pace. Although the Qiao family were primarily businessmen, their family values and patriotism were truly admirable.

The Wang family, once the richest family in Shanxi, built such a grand compound through generations of hard work. It's unimaginable unless you see it with your own eyes. With over two thousand rooms, it's twice the size of the Forbidden City. Absolutely stunning!
The Wang Family Compound boasts a well-preserved defensive structure, including various gate towers and watchtowers, allowing visitors to climb the city wall around the entire compound. Its wood carvings, brick carvings, and stone carvings adorn the eaves, brackets, screen walls, doors, and windows, depicting a rich variety of subjects such as the Three Friends of Winter (pine, bamboo, and plum), and the arts of music, chess, calligraphy, and painting, all crafted with exquisite artistry.

The Shanxi Museum houses over 500,000 artifacts, including bronzes, porcelain, stone carvings, Buddhist statues, murals, and calligraphy and paintings. The Jin Marquis Bird-shaped Zun is its most prized possession. The Shanxi Museum is a paradise for family trips and is listed as one of China's 100 best family-friendly attractions by 2025.
In fact, the tour guide was very dedicated. Why didn't I give her an excellent rating? It's because I don't know if I didn't make a good choice or I didn't have any choice at all. The Shanxi Museum is so big with so many exhibition halls. During our two and a half hours of tour, the young lady chose to start talking about ancient times, which took up too much time, probably at least an hour. Even though the young lady has a wealth of knowledge, this part is really useless (or not very attractive to me). It would be better to spend this precious time on the "Yingxian Wooden Pagoda" on the fourth floor, or the Shanxi ancient buildings on the third floor, which are more Shanxi-style and more attractive!
