Nuodeng Ancient Village is indeed a place where one can calm down, escape the hustle and bustle of the city, and appreciate the tranquility of time. Here are some of my honest impressions after visiting: Positive Aspects: * **Rich Ancient Charm:** Stepping into the ancient village, time seems to slow down. Walking up the winding cobblestone path, you'll see layers upon layers of Ming and Qing dynasty houses built against the mountainside, their yellow walls and black tiles resembling a rustic ink painting. The village's Jade Emperor Pavilion and its "Twenty-Eight Constellations" ceiling, the Confucian Temple, and the former site of the Provincial Salt Commissioner's Office all bear witness to a rich history. The village prospered because of salt, and its unchanged name and ancient salt wells tell the story of its past glory as an important stop on the ancient Tea Horse Road. * **Stunning Natural Scenery and Tranquility:** In the morning, a thin mist swirls around the mountains, making the village appear and disappear; in the evening, the setting sun casts a golden glow over the ancient village. The panoramic view of "Beishan Chonglou" from the observation deck on the opposite mountainside is spectacular and breathtaking. Here, you can hear birdsong and enjoy a tranquility and peace rarely found in the city. * Unique cuisine and simple folk customs: Nuodeng ham is a delightful surprise for the taste buds, with a rich, savory flavor and a lingering aftertaste. The villagers are also very hospitable, allowing you to experience their genuine hospitality. * Disadvantages: * Physically demanding: The village is built on a mountainside, with uneven, tiered stone steps throughout. Some paths are narrow and steep, making it quite strenuous, especially for the elderly, children, or those with limited physical strength. * Tourism infrastructure needs improvement: Transportation in the village mainly relies on mules and horses, so you may need to carry large luggage. Furthermore, some roads are in poor condition, and there is room for improvement in tourism infrastructure. Overall, Nuodeng Ancient Village is ideal for tourists seeking historical traces and a peaceful experience. If you feel physically exhausted, you might as well slow down, find a guesthouse in the village and stay an extra night to savor the unique charm of this ancient village with a history of thousands of years.
