The Pamir Plateau is the center of Asia and Europe.
Geographically: Located in the southeast of Central Asia and the northwest of Xinjiang, China, it is a huge mountain knot where the Kunlun Mountains, Karakoram Mountains, Hindu Kush Mountains and Tianshan Mountains meet, spanning China, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other countries.
"Pamir" means "Roof of the World" in Tajik. Isn't the roof of the world the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau? The average altitude here is about 4,000 meters, and the area is about 148,000 square kilometers.
Pamir has bred a large number of glaciers, snow-capped mountains and lakes. There are Muztagh Ata Snow Mountain, Kongur Snow Mountain, Kongur Jiubie Snow Mountain, Karakul Lake, Baisha Lake and other lakes in my country.
The Pamir Plateau is a must-pass route on the Silk Road. Historically, the Kushan Empire, the Arab Empire, Mongolia, Britain, Russia and other countries have successively controlled it.
The Pamir Plateau is mainly inhabited by nomadic peoples such as the Tajik and Kyrgyz and their branch tribes, and has intangible cultural heritage such as the Tajik funeral customs, the Tajik yak carrying sheep, and the Tajik eagle dance.
The natural landscapes of the Pamirs include the Muztagh Ata Glacier Park, the Karakul Lake Scenic Area, the Kezhou Glacier Park, the Golden Grassland, the Karakul Lake, and the Taheman Wetland. Among them, the Muztagh Ata Peak is known as the "Father of Icebergs", and the Kongur Peak, Kongur Jiubie Peak, and the Muztagh Ata Peak are world-famous peaks and the highest peaks on the Pamir Plateau.
