I visited the Xi'an Beilin Museum on November 20th, which was perfect timing; the ginkgo leaves were already golden, but the leaves hadn't yet fallen. I had visited last year before the new museum opened, so I came back as soon as it did.
The new Xi'an Beilin Museum is a cultural palace where history and art blend seamlessly. Here's a review:
The new Xi'an Beilin Museum is definitely a treasure trove for culture enthusiasts! As a visitor with a slight interest in history and calligraphy, I was filled with awe and admiration after visiting the new museum.
The exhibits in the new museum are truly magnificent. It gathers numerous national treasure-level stone inscriptions, such as Yan Zhenqing's *Duobao Pagoda Stele* and Liu Gongquan's *Xuanmi Pagoda Stele*. These are names I usually only see in textbooks, but now they are displayed before my eyes in their original stone form, creating a profound and moving experience. The exhibition design of the new museum is also outstanding. The lighting and spatial arrangement are perfectly balanced, making each stone inscription seem to come alive, telling the story of historical vicissitudes through the interplay of light and shadow.
Interactive technology experiences are a major highlight of the new museum. The museum features interactive exhibits such as touchscreen calligraphy tables and AR technology-based recreations of inscription stories, allowing visitors to experience the charm of calligraphy more directly and making this ancient culture more vivid and engaging. Furthermore, the new museum's layout is scientifically sound and the flow of movement is clear, divided according to theme and era – it's truly excellent.
