I've been meaning to say something about this car rental experience, but I kept forgetting. Even though it's been over a month since I returned the car, I finally feel I should. The main reason I chose to rent such a large car was because I was traveling with elderly relatives. Since the drive around the island was quite long, I wanted them to be comfortable. Plus, there were four of us with a lot of luggage, so I looked for a business class car. I compared prices at several rental companies, and Bluerental offered the best value. I hesitated at first because the pick-up wasn't at the airport, and I was worried about the hassle and time-consuming process. However, considering the price difference of several thousand dollars and the availability of Chinese-speaking staff, I decided to give it a try. To my surprise, the rental company contacted me a day in advance and even added me on WeChat, making the pick-up process very smooth. Although the car wasn't a year or two old, the paint job was done, and the interior was clean and hygienic. After nine days of driving, the car performed well, and the reclining seat in the middle made the elderly very comfortable. The only slight drawback was that although it had a reversing camera, there was no audio warning, which made it difficult to see clearly in some angles during the day due to backlighting. Adding that would be a welcome improvement. The best part of this car rental experience was the day before I returned the car. I suddenly noticed a large chipped area of paint next to the headlight. I didn't recall any scratches in that spot while driving, but the car was in perfect condition when I handed it over. Although I had insurance, I was worried about the hassle of going through the advance payment process since it was purchased in China. Surprisingly, the staff were incredibly accommodating on the day of return, saying it was most likely caused by the intense New Zealand sun and that I didn't need to pay. Honestly, I was quite worried they'd say it was caused by a stone hitting my car. Even more generous was the small scratch on the trunk, about half the size of a little fingernail. I thought it might have been from a shopping cart hitting it at the supermarket, which was clearly my fault and I could have easily claimed a small amount of compensation. But they checked it and said they'd let it go to ensure a good rental experience for us. They were incredibly generous. We had specifically arrived at the return point early and even discussed the insurance process with Ctrip beforehand, but we didn't need to use it at all. A very generous rental company that made our experience excellent. Before dropping us off at the airport after returning the car, they even gave us a bottle of local liquor as a gift. Hai specifically told us that we don't need to check the liquor when flying domestically in New Zealand. We were really grateful.
