Glen Shiel Munros - hill walking weekend | Kintail Outdoor Centre
Sports & Fitness
Walking
Traverse the Five Sisters of Kintail with Girls on Hills - but don't stop there! We'll be walking some of the Brothers the very next day!
Glen Shiel is the perfect place to link Munros - a scattering of interconnected giants, just a short distance from the road. A steep climb up, and you're away from it all, with a mountain panorama stretching-out in every direction!
Only 1.5 hours from Glencoe, the north side of Glen Shiel is formed by the famous Five Sisters range (3 Munros), considered one of the finest hill walks in the Scottish Highlands. The area is also home to the South Glen Shiel Ridge (7 Munros), the Brothers of Kintail (3 Munros), as well as Sgurr na Sgine and the Sadde (2 Munros) via the tricky Forcan Ridge, with yet more Munros not far beyond.
The planned itinerary* is as follows:
Saturday:
Five Sisters of Kintail
15km, 1400m (Munros Sgùrr na Ciste Duibhe, Sgùrr na Càrnach, Sgùrr Fhuaran).
Sunday:
A number of other Munros in the Kintail area (usually some of the three Brothers of Kintail) The route will be determined by the weather, ambitions and remaining energy-levels of the group. There are just so many great options!
Join us at the National Trust
Kintail Outdoor Centre
situated in below Sgurr na Moraich, the last of the famous Five Sisters of Kintail. The centre offers well-situated bunkhouse-style accommodation with a sociable feel. It has a basic but fully equipped self-catering kitchen, sitting room with wood-burning stove, dining room, drying and laundry room for your use. For the duration of the weekend we will have sole-occupancy of the whole centre. The weekend includes two nights accommodation (Friday and Saturday).
To bag these hard-earned summits, you will need to have level good hill fitness, ideally with some prior experience of climbing Scottish Munros. The weekend will involve some big days, but you will be in the capable hands of experienced Mountain Leaders, so you can leave the route-finding to them, relax and take in the fabulous views!
What's included?
Course costs include guiding and instruction plus two nights of accommodation (Fri & Sat)

Please note that Girls on Hills guides will amend the above intinerary according to the weather and may need to shorten the route/s if conditions are poor - however we will seek to complete the planned itinerary as long as it is safe to do so.
