Exhibitions
This year, the National Museum commemorates 100 years since it took over the archaeological collection of Eduard Štorch. An educator by profession and a popular author of books for children and young people, he was also an avid amateur archaeologist. The exhibition Prehistoric Adventures of Eduard Štorch will introduce you to the unusual connection between Štorch's novels and the authentic archaeological finds that inspired him when writing his works. At the same time, the exhibition presents Eduard Štorch as a progressive personality – a progressive educator, founder of skiing courses, health holidays by the sea and the Children's Farm, an avid amateur archaeologist and collector, and an enthusiastic scout. The exhibition, which interweaves biographical and narrative lines, is divided into five parts: the Stone Age, the Bronze Age, the Iron Age, the Roman Age and the Early Middle Ages. Accompanied by Štorch's books, you can explore the period from the Early Paleolithic, represented by the legendary Mammoth Hunters, to the Early Middle Ages with the Hero Nik. The atmosphere of the exhibition is illustrated by examples of fauna from the time of mammoth hunters, which no longer occur in our territory, such as musk deer, wolverines, luminosa, or a mammoth cub, which has been moved from the National Museum's exhibition Windows to Prehistory especially for this exhibition. You can look forward to exceptional palaeontological and archaeological finds or the original of Štorch's diary. The Paleolithic animal figurines, together with the Venus of Věstonice, are considered to be the first ceramic objects in the world. From the Bronze Age, the needles from Nečín – a find from 1929, which inspired Štorch to write his novel Bronze Treasure, or a faithful anthropological reconstruction of a woman with the richest equipment in the Únětice culture from the burial site in Mikulovice are interesting. Furthermore, you can see the unusual equipment of Štorch's discovery of a Celtic warrior grave from Prague-Hloubětín with a sword and a golden ring, and you will be transported to the times of Marobud, king of the Marcomanni, by the luxury products of Roman workshops. Thanks to audiovisual elements, you can walk through the digital route of the mammoth hunters' wanderings, view a selection of photographs from the Štorch estate and browse through the Chronicle of the Children's Farm or recall the film trilogy by director Jan Schmidt based on Štorch's books in selected excerpts. Especially child visitors will enjoy the backdrop of a Paleolithic cave with a projected fire, a demonstration of the facade of a Neolithic house, a reconstruction of two graves or animals such as wolves, bears and beavers that appear in Eduard Štorch's books. There is also a library. You can also try out your literary and illustration skills right in the exhibition. There is a book in which you can write a short story for a sequel or try to design an illustration in the style of Štorch's books. Anyone can also send their stories and illustration designs to vystava@nm.cz. The best works will be published in the exhibition. The exhibition has been created in cooperation with the Memorial of National Literature, where Štorch's rich literary heritage and photographs are stored.

Exhibitions
The new interactive exhibition at the National Museum invites you to a unique encounter with one of the most outstanding figures in modern Czech history—Frandisška Praminkova. A teacher, politician, pioneer of the women's rights movement, and anti-Nazi fighter, Praminkova is presented not only vividly as a historical figure but also as a dialogue partner for exploring courage, equality, and civic responsibility. This exhibition aims to present a vibrant dialogue connecting the past and the present. It showcases how the values Praminkova fought for throughout her life influence our lives and inspire the younger generation. At the beginning of the exhibition, you will see a solemn marble bust by Kara Vobisova, symbolizing Praminkova's return to the public eye. Then, you can immerse yourself in the relics donated to the museum by Frantishka Praminkova's sister—from her senator's ID card to her iconic work briefcase and her protectorate-era passport, all of which accompanied her to international conferences advocating for women's rights. The exhibition also includes personal photographs, copies of letters (including a famous letter to Adolf Hitler), and an extraordinary library with over 700 volumes containing authentic notebooks that reveal her thoughts and the factors that shaped her. "Frantishka Praminkova and Us" invites us to reflect on how her legacy is reflected in today's world and our own place within it.

If the "Father of the Nation" were alive today, how would he speak? What insights would he have about Europe, society, or personal responsibility? The exhibition in the historic buildings of the National Museum presents František Palacký in a completely new way—vivid, engaging, and unexpectedly contemporary. Held to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Palacký's death, this exhibition offers a unique perspective on this figure who profoundly influenced Czech history and even the National Museum itself. Palacký is no longer a distant historical symbol, but appears as a thoughtful contemporary figure—a person of our time. You will enter Palacky's world through eight fictional dialogues between him and a person from 2026, presented in the form of mobile phone screen chats. These dialogues reveal key themes in his life and questions that continue to provoke thought. In addition, the book includes an original comic strip depicting important moments in his life—from his youth to his academic research and political career. The exhibition also features a large number of audio recordings, excerpts from Palacky's works and private letters, creating a powerful atmosphere. This allows viewers not only to read his thoughts but also to hear them in a completely new context. A major highlight of the exhibition is a large map of Europe, allowing visitors to trace Palacki's travel routes and observe the changing landscape of Central European countries. Rotating cylinders containing newspapers from the time showcase the media world of the 19th century; while simple handcrafted devices demonstrate how Palacki collected, organized, and analyzed information without modern technology. An important part of the exhibition consists of valuable artifacts from Palacki's private and public life. These include 1,000 selected books from his vast private collection, the trunk he carried when he arrived in Prague in 1823, and personal items such as spectacles, clothing accessories, a cane, a hat, a paperweight, and a barometer (which he meticulously recorded readings of). Items related to his family reveal a more private side of him, such as clothing belonging to his wife Trezy Palacki and daughter Marie Rigorova Palacki. The exhibition also features a reproduction of one of his many portraits, painted by Max Šwabinski, one of his most famous portraits. The exhibition also presents Palacki as a public figure. Visitors can see artifacts documenting his political career and his role on the European stage. Simultaneously, through medals, prints, stamps, banknotes, and artworks, the exhibition highlights his extraordinary political legacy—his so-called "second life"—demonstrating his deep roots in Czech historical memory. The exhibition also includes replicas of archival materials from Palacky's relic—drafts of his major work, *History of the Czech Peoples of Bohemia and Moravia*, personal documents, travel logs, and daily manuscripts—materials that collectively paint a picture of a historian and the figures of his time.
