Worcester District
A lecture-recital exploring the relationship between music and the brain, especially in relation to Mozart’s music. How and why is music so powerful? How is it possible that someone with memory loss might not remember a family member’s name but can sing or play along to a favourite song from their youth? What makes Mozart’s music so accessible to those with an injured or deteriorating brain? Grace has worked as a violinist with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the English Symphony Orchestra, the Gabrieli Consort & Players, and enjoys a varied freelance career with a multitude of other orchestras across the country. Alongside her professional work, Grace is completing a Master of Studies in Music at the University of Oxford. As well as performing, this enables her to do further research into the relationship between music and neurology, an area of particular interest. The event will take place in the Cathedral's Undercroft. Please use the entrance off College Green.
