Come join us in Fitzgerald, Georgia for the 8th Annual Wild Chicken 100 and enjoy a full day of bike riding, good fellowship, impeccable hospitality, and great food in one of the best small towns in South Georgia. Better yet, make it a weekend full of riding on some of the finest, rural, backroads in this whole area with friends, surrounded by folks who will treat you like you're family (the good kind!). This ride will be a challenge whether you partake in the racing, will yourself through the distances, or if you'd like to make a day of it while you ride party pace. We'll celebrate each rider and what they've accomplished and gotten to be apart of and we'll join together for a delicious post-ride meal. This ride will focus on the mixed terrain rides, but we'll also feature two or three rides on the road for those roadies out there. For the mixed terrain rides, we'll let you choose from four different distances: Small (15-20ish miles), Medium (25-40ish miles), Large (60-80ish miles), XL (100ish miles), and XXL (150ish miles). And new for the 2025 Edition will be a multiday challenge for those who want to push the boudaries of what they thought possible. This XXXL Route will be 250+ miles and will begin the night before! Details to follow on this one!! The Large and XL distance courses will be a race and awards will be given for the Top 3 finishers. And new for this year's edition, we will be givingawards to the Top 3 male AND female finishers. There'll be unique, chicken-themed awards for these podium riders. We are celebrating folks who ride bikes! And if you want to ride these distances, but have no desire to race , then by all means, do it. That's what my plan would be. The awards will be given and announced mid-afternoon/evening when most have finished up, but I'll be cheering on those who've taken longer and are really getting their monies worth! Each of these mixed-terrain gravel routes will feature a mixture of gravel, clay, dirt, and sand and have about a 75% to 25% ratio of dirt to pavement. Each of these distances will have SAG stops. We'll make sure there are restrooms for our longer distance riders. And we don't want to leave those who love the pavement out and there'll be Small, Medium, and Large routes. The small will 10-20 miles long, the medium will be 20-40 miles, and the large route will be a metric century. I left the roadie life in 2014, but willdo my best to think like a roadie. I may even wear some lycra and some fancy sunglasses as I map out the routes! For the 2025 edition of the Wild Chicken 100, we'll be keeping what has worked, throwing away what hasn't, trying a few new things, and doing what we'd like most in a ride. We ride quite a bit, but don't get to go to, too many races, and there's some great ones we go to and there's some we pay a lot for and leave feeling as if we should have just ridden at home. We want each one of you to leave feeling you were important and wanted at our race/ride. All types of bikes are welcome. All types of riders are welcome. We just like riding bikes with friends old and new. E-bikes are welcome, but can't compete for awards. Please join our Facebook page, so you can stay up to date on information. Lodging can be found in multiple locations. Fitzgerald has a campground, several Bed & Breakfast locations, one acceptable hotel (The Quality Inn), several super cool lofts, and a host of Air BnB's. Please reach out if you need help finding a place! Information Source: David Dark | eventbrite

Thistle Blues Dancing presents 4 week courses on blues dancing, a style of partnered social dance done to blues and related jazz/soul/funk music! Taking place on Tuesdays from October 22nd til November 12th at St Columbas by the Castle in Edinburgh. These progressive classes will teach you not only how to dance blues but also about blues music, culture and history. With time after the classes to social dance, practice your new moves and make some new friends! These courses will cover two blues dances topics: 1. Ballroomin' is a style of blues dances done in Black American ballrooms and dance halls in the United States alongside jazz blues / swing music, characterised by travelling, rhythmic steps and often featuring flashy moves like turns and dips. Examples include The Strut, The Stride, Peabody, Swing Walk, Savoy Walk, 1 Step / 2 Step and more! Often these dances use a convention called line of dance , which allows dancers to travel in a circle around the dancefloor, whilst others may choose to do other jazz dances such as Slow Drag or Lindy Hop in the middle of the room. In this course, rather than learning specific Ballroomin' dances, we will instead work on the core skills and techniques they have in common. Focusing on how to effortlessly glide around the room with a partner, executing loads of cool and fun dynamic moves! 2. Blues music heavily overlaps with the funk and soul music of the 60s and 70s. Similarly many blues dances and moves were also done to this music. In this course we will explore where these music genres overlap and differ, learning lots of fun classic moves and dances that can be done with a partner, solo and in groups! With amazing artists like Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, James Brown, Nina Simone and more! *IN CLASS* - No partner is required and everyone will get the opportunity to dance with each other in both lead and follow roles. Wear comfy clothes and shoes. Blues as a dance style, often uses a close embrace as the main connection in partnership. Consent will be prioritised at all times. Everyone has the right to say no to a dance and that right must be respected. Information Source: Thistle Blues Dancing | eventbrite

Ecstatic DanceEcstatic Dance is a sacred space for connection - to yourself, others and the world around you. Ecstatic Dance is a community gathering for people who want to express themselves freely, to connect and to expand together. Enjoy a safe and inspiring space to dance without talking, alcohol and drugs. This is about self expression, freeing your mind and body, and connecting with yourself and those around you. No booze, no shoes and no chit-chat on the dance floor helps us keep it intentional. Amazing music helps us keep it all about dance. Ecstatic Dance is a world wide movement that reclaims rave culture and reunites dance with ceremony and community ritual. We co-create a powerful space where everyone is welcome, respected and honored as their authentic selves. Whether you’re seeking healing, inspiration, or simply a deeper connection with yourself and others, this practice offers a powerful space to ground, open, and awaken to the aliveness within. Freeform MovementFreeform movement means you can move however you please ~ there’s no right or wrong way. The dance floor is a space for you to explore movement and be carried and moved by the music. It’s an opportunity to listen deeper to your body, flow with your emotions, connect with others without the need for words and get elevated from the movement and euphoric release. No matter what your dance experience is or how you are feeling ~ you are welcome just as you are. 2 great acts and one incredible show with more keyboards on stage than you can imagine... Carol Hodge: Yorkshire-dwelling singer-songwriter Carol Hodge is a wonderful musical dichotomy. With her roots and ethics firmly set in punk as a long-term collaborator with Crass frontman Steve Ignorant, Carol is currently touring the songs of Crass around the world with The Ignorant Band, on keyboards, BVs and lead vocals. Yet Carol is also a uniquely gifted songwriter and as able to conjure up beautiful pop-infused, heart-wrenching melodies as she is screaming into the face of authority and injustice. The Stellar Anderson project: Described as soulful indie brilliance The Stellar Anderson Project brings unique eclectic drama with whispers of All About Eve and Dead Can Dance underpinned by classical and celtic influence. Stunning vocals, intense piano and synth offset by stripped back guitars lead you on a journey of musical escapism. Advance tickets £10, Door £12 Wheelchair accessible from rear of building Information Source: Stellar Promotions | eventbrite
