About this Event Get active and enjoy walking by water on this free 3 hour guided walk. Led by our lovely local volunteers this is a great way to be active, meet people and spend time by water. Starting and finishing outside the Stables Cafe at Saul Junction. This circular, 6 mile walk (approx 3 hours) will explore the old route of the Stroudwater Canal before returning to the start via the lakes & parkland of Frampton on Severn rejoining the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal at Fretherne bridge. Whilst the route follows recognised footpaths the surface will be muddy and uneven at times, and includes a number of stiles. It's all about meeting people so come along on your own, or bring a friend, and stay for a cup of tea afterwards if you can. We welcome well behaved dogs on a lead. Please wear comfortable shoes, weather appropriate clothing and bring a bottle of water. Please let us know if you have any requirements or concerns. Book now Please book one time slot per person. By analysing the commission, design and production of the damask, we can explore the relationship between William Morris’ ideologies on production and design and the realities of an industrialised society. Emily will outline the history of the commission and the production of the damask; how it was influenced by Morris’ attitudes towards manufacturing, and how this relates to his political ideology. She will discuss the St. James damask in the context of the wider St James commissions providing an insight into Morris’ development as an individual and as a businessman across that period, projected into the same space.
