(500,000 subscribers) Having headlined clubs such as: the Laughter Lounge, The Stand, The International Comedy Club, The Comedy Cellar & The Belfast Empire (To Name A Few!) it won’t be long before Ryan Cullen will be giving the big names a RUN for their money!Opening the show is Aberdeen Fringe Festival 2024 comedian of the year winner Matt Black, fresh off an opener at the Tivoli Theatre in Aberdeen in support of Wray Thomson performing to 500 people. Matt Black from the Highlands started 2022 off with his first gig on Zoom. The Pando Tree is the world’s largest tree. Located in the Fishlake National Forest in Utah, Pando’s 47,000 genetically identical trunks span 43 hectares connected via a vast root network that coordinates energy production, defense and regeneration as a single tree. Active for 9,000-16,000 years, Pando is the oldest tree in the Americas, and one of the oldest lifeforms on Earth. Since 2021, conservation group Friends of Pando has partnered with Fishlake National Forest to educate the public and work to protect, monitor and restore Pando. In this talk, Friends of Pando founder, Lance Oditt will introduce audiences to this ancient wonder and the 10,000-year-long relationship between the tree and humans in the high desert oasis Pando calls home. Opening the talk will be Cumbria-based artists Rob Fraser and Harriet Fraser, founders of the Place Collective who will speak about their experiences visiting the tree in 2019 and, their return trip to Pando as artists in residence with Friends of Pando in 2025. Concerts Folk
LeVolume writes their original songs in both English and French, while also interpreting and translating songs by such luminaries as Doug Paisley, Jesse Winchester and Carolyn Mark. The music created by Jenny, Joey and Julian as LeVolume has the uncanny effect of buoying your spirit at one turn and touching your soul at the next as they weave beauty, melancholy and humour deftly into a gorgeous LeVolume quilt that can be used to warm you by the fire or readily thrown down on the sand for a sunny waterside picnic. LeVolume’s music features the rich strumming of acoustic guitars, the bright tinkling of mandolins and etherial vocals with loads of harmonies strewn throughout as each member takes a turn on lead vocals. The result is a rich yet light, folk-not-folk, bubbly yet heavy concoction that is sure to intoxicate its listeners. LeVolume takes the music seriously, but not themselves, just like Fleetwood Mac, except without the drums, bass, piano, cocaine and infidelity! Having performed and recorded with a list of Canadian royalty too long to include here…ok, ok, we’ll include a few: Feist, Sarah Harmer, Amy Millan, Stars, Apostle Of Hustle, Ron Hynes, all the Whiteleys…you can bet these folks know what they’re doing in the studio and on stage! Welcome to the very first horticultural workshop at Denmarkfield Allotments! Join staff and volunteers from Rewilding Denmarkfield and Perthshire Seed Library for this interactive workshop based on our new community plot. It will get you thinking more about how sowing different seeds together can help promote plant health and boost biodiversity - a win win! Our Growing Workshop 'Successional Sowing and Seedy Companions' will kick off at 10.30am and will run until 12pm, and for this please book a ticket by donation in advance. It will involve us talking together about the what, why, and how of companion plants before getting stuck into planning veg beds, sowing seeds, and transplanting seedlings. Open to beginners looking to improve their gardening knowledge and learn new skills, AND those with more experience to share (there are always conversational rabbit holes to travel down!) We will be working with veg seed, flowers, and herbs, and this is a great way to find out more about the incredible service offered by Perthshire Seed Library - all while surrounded by nature. N.B. We have a raised bed at 90cm tall, so do not worry if bending or kneeling is an issue for you. Our Allotment Open Day will run after this, from 12pm - 1.30pm and this a free drop-in. There will be kids activities, hot drinks & home baking, and a plant/seed swap - so bring your curiousity, your wee ones, and any seed(lings) to share! No need to book a ticket for this section of the day, but please feel free to message Laurie if you are planning on coming along. Any donations on the day towards covering open day costs gratefully received. To keep the vehicle pressure on this core path low, we suggest parking outside the Luncarty Memorial Hall and walking down (15 mins) however if this is an issue in terms of access, just get in touch with Laurie and we can get you parked closer to the allotment site. We can't wait to see you there. Any questions at all, please contact Laurie! laurie@denmarkfield.co.uk/ 07425070906 Information Source: Rewilding Denmarkfield | eventbrite

These castings are a powerful, natural fertilizer that improve soil health, boost plant growth, and help retain moisture. In this hands-on session, we’ll be working with red wiggler worms in our backyard compost bins to help reduce green bin waste and transform abundant kitchen scraps into nutrient-rich castings that will feed our gardens. Join Maureen Bostock and Joanna Kowalczyk in the backyard at 190 Gore Street and learn how you can set up a simple worm composting system at home.
