Comprising nine works by three generations of female artists from the Americas, “Tha Sun Will Set: Contemporary Abstraction and the Body” draws from the MFA’s collection to trace a lineage of abstract painting spanning seven decades. The exhibition borrows its title from Christina Quarles’s In 24 Days Tha Sun’ll Set at 7pm (2022), which takes joyful liberty with the traditions of abstraction by experimenting with various painting techniques and ways of depicting figures in a landscape. Performance Overview:به اجرای کنسرت نجوا، بداهه هایی برای تنبور و ساز های کوبه ای خوش آمدید. در این برنامه استاد علی اکبر مرادی با نوای تنبور و آواز نغمه های موسیقی یارسان را همراه با همنوازی سازهای کوبه ای استاد پژمان حدادی به محضرتان تقدیم خواهند کرد. موسیقی یارسانموسیقی یارسان بدون شک یکی از کهن‌ترین موسیقی‌های مشرق زمین است. به این دلیل که ریشه و بستر اصلی آواهای آن بر مبنای یکی از آوازهای اولیه‌ی بشر یعنی «هوره» شکل گرفته است. هوره از آوازهای کهن بشری به شمار می‌آید که زنان و مردان در طول تاریخ غم و شادی، عشق و دلدادگی و دلاوری‌های خود را با این آواهای کهن بدون همراهی ساز بیان می‌کرده‌اند. ساز تنبور، طی هزاره‌ها تا به امروز، به عنوان کهن‌ترین ساز زهی زخمه‌ای با قدمتی حدود پنج تا شش هزار سال، موسیقی یارسان را در قالب آیینی کهن، توسط خنیاگران این ساز عارفانه و عاشقانه و حماسی روایت کرده است. گردش ملودی، فواصل ویژه و اوزان منحصر به فرد، خاص این موسیقی است، که طی هزاره‌ها شکل گرفته و باعث به وجود آمدن نغمات و «ته‌رزهای» متنوع و مقام‌های مختلف شده است. موسیقی یارسان یکی از غنی‌ترین فرهنگ‌های موسیقایی بشر است، چرا که این رپرتوار علاوه بر اینکه یک منبع عظیم موسیقایی محسوب می‌شود، دارای قدمتی به بلندای تاریخ است که به علت اعتقادات آیینی و تقدس نغمات آن، به صورت بکر و دست نخورده تا امروز باقی مانده و به دست ما رسیده است. این نوع نگاه باعث شده است که این فرهنگ موسیقایی کمتر دچار تغییر و تحریف شده و نغمات مقدس آن با احترامی خاص حفظ و با کمترین تغییر سینه‌ به سینه منتقل شده است. بنابراین با توجه به قدمت این ساز می‌بایست بخش مهمی از پیشینه موسیقی ایران قدیم را در این موسیقی جست‌وجو کرد. با تحقیق بیشتر در زیربنای این موسیقی و‌ بررسی نقاط مشترک با دیگر موسیقی‌های ایرانی می‌توان متوجه شد که ریشه‌ی آن با موسیقی کلاسیک یا ردیف کنونی ایران گره خورده است. هر اندازه که به گذشته‌های تاریخی برگردیم ارتباط این دو نوع موسیقی را به هم نزدیک‌تر می‌یابیم. تا آنجا که هر دو را از یک منبع مشترک می‌توان به حساب آورد. از این روست که مطالعه و فراگیری این موسیقی برای شناخت ریشه‌های موسیقی ایرانی امری ضروری به نظر می‌رسد. (منبع: کتاب موسیقی یارسان) استاد علی اکبر مرادیعلی اکبر مرادی متولد ۱۳۳۶ در کرمانشاه، نوازنده و استاد تنبور است. وی از شش سالگی نواختن این ساز را آغاز و در ده سالگی به عنوان یک نوازنده کامل تنبور شناخته شد. مرادی نزد استادان برجسته تنبور در کرمانشاه به تکمیل هنر خود پرداخت و در سن سی سالگی نواختن تمامی ۷۲ مقام موسیقی مقامی را با تنبور آموخت.مرادی به عنوان تکنواز تنبور سبک منحصر به فردی دارد که او را از دیگر نوازندگان این ساز متمایز کرده است. او همچنین موفق به دریافت جوایز مهمی از جشنواره‌های ایرانی و جهانی شده‌است. علی اکبر مرادی فعالیت هنری خود را به صورت حرفه‌ای از سال ۱۳۵۰ با تکنوازی تنبور در فرهنگ و هنر کرمانشاه آغاز نموده و در سال ۱۳۵۱ به همراه دوستان هنرمند خود، اولین گروه تنبور را در کرمانشاه تشکیل دادند. وی در سال ۱۳۷۲ کار موسیقی خود را به صورت مستقل ادامه داد و جمع‌آوری، فراگیری و ثبت مقامات کهن تنبور را آغاز نمود. این مقامات (۷۲ مقام) سال‌ها بعد توسط خانهٔ فرهنگ‌های جهان در پاریس و بعد از آن در ایران در چهار سی‌دی انتشار یافت، به گونه‌ای که سبب نامزدی مرادی برای دریافت جایزۀ «گرمی» شد. مجله معروف سینگ لاین مرادی را یکی از ۵۰ نوازندهٔ برتر دنیا معرفی کرده‌است. مرادی همچنین در سال ۱۳۸۱ به پاس خدماتش از طرف شورای ارزشیابی هنرمندان ایران، مدرک درجه یک هنری دریافت داشته‌است. از مرادی به عنوان یکی از مشاهیر کُرد در تیر ماه ۱۳۹۸ در کنگره جهانی مشاهیر کرد تجلیل و تقدیر به عمل آمد و به وی نشان شهروند طلایی اعطا شد. استاد پژمان حدادیپژمان حدادی نوازنده برجسته و خلاق ایرانی در عرصه سازهای کوبه‌ای، به عنوان یکی از نوآورترین نوازندگان این عرصه شناخته می‌شود. او در ۱۹ فوریه ۱۹۶۹ در تهران، ایران به دنیا آمد. در سن ۱۰ سالگی، شروع به یادگیری تنبک، یکی از اساسی ترین سازهای موسیقی سنتی ایرانی، نزد استاد اسدالله حجازی کرد و به مدت دو سال تحت تعلیمات دقیق این استاد قرار گرفت که پایه و اساس آموزش‌های او را شکل داد. سپس به مدت کوتاهی با استاد بهمن رجبی به تمرین ادامه داد و با شیوه‌ای کاملاً متفاوت از نوازندگی این ساز آشنا شد. پژمان حدادی به طور خستگی‌ناپذیر سبک‌های مختلف نوازندگان برجسته تنبک را دنبال کرد و از اساتیدی چون حسین تهرانی، ناصر فرهنگ‌فر و مرتضی اعیان که تأثیر زیادی بر او از طریق آثار ضبط شده خود داشتند، الهام گرفت. پس از مدتی، او به دیگر ساز کوبه‌ای در سنت موسیقی ایرانی یعنی دف، جذب شد. او به طور خودآموز به یادگیری دف پرداخت و از آثار ضبط شده استاد برجسته دف‌نوازی، بیژن کامکار، الهامات زیادی گرفت. Yarsaan music is undoubtedly one of the oldest musical traditions in the East. Its roots are based on one of the earliest human chants, Hureh. Throughout history, men and women have expressed their joys, sorrows, love, and bravery through these ancient vocalizations without any instrumental accompaniment. The Tanbour, an ancient string instrument dating back five to six thousand years, has carried Yarsan music through millennia. This sacred and ceremonial music, played by mystical musicians, features unique melodies, intervals, and rhythms that have evolved to create a diverse array of tunes and modes. Ali Akbar Moradi, born in 1957 in Kermanshah, is a master and player of the Tanbour. He started playing this instrument at the age of six and was recognized as a proficient Tanbour player by the age of ten. Moradi refined his skills under the guidance of prominent Tanbour masters in Kermanshah. By the age of thirty, he had mastered all 72 maqams (modes) of traditional Tanbour music and began his professional career in 1971, receiving numerous awards from both Iranian and international festivals since then. He has a unique solo Tanbour playing style that distinguishes him from other players of this instrument. Pejman Hadadi is considered one of the most innovative Iranian percussionists. He was born in Tehran, Iran on February 19, 1969. At age 10, he began studying Tombak, the central drum in traditional Persian music, with Master Tombak player Assadollah Hejazi for two years. He owes the foundation of his training to this Master’s precise teaching. He continued his training for a brief time with Master Tombak player, Bahman Rajabi, who exposed him to an entirely different approach to playing the instrument. Pejman tirelessly followed the various styles of famous Tombak players and was captivated by such great Masters as Hossein Tehrani, Nasser Farhangfar, and Morteza Ayan, who influenced him greatly through their recordings. After some time, he felt drawn to the other main percussive instrument in the tradition, namely the sacred frame drum known as the Daf. Alongside his long hours of Tombak practice, he taught himself how to play the Daf, finding great inspiration from the great Master Daf player, Bijan Kamkar, through his recordings. The outlandish and iconoclastic artist Salvador Dalí (1904–1989) is famous for his bizarre imagery and distinctive Surrealist vision. He was, however, also deeply rooted in tradition. Dalí studied, emulated, and indeed revered his European predecessors from centuries past, embracing influences from Spain, the Low Countries, and Italy throughout his long career. “Dalí: Disruption and Devotion” juxtaposes nearly 30 paintings and prints on loan from the Salvador Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, with European masterpieces from the MFA’s collection, including portraits, religious scenes, and still-lifes by El Greco, Orazio Gentileschi, and Velázquez, among others. In addition to these illuminating pairings, the exhibition features some of Dalí’s best-known works, such asDisintegration of the Persistence of Memory(1952–54). Other examples reveal optical illusions and double images—hallmarks of Surrealism—while the monumentalEcumenical Council(1960) highlights Dalí’s technical mastery. By seeing him in dialogue with great painters and printmakers who came before him, visitors can experience a unique take on one of the most celebrated avant-garde artists of the 20th century.
