Marie Ducaté (born in Lille in 1954, currently residing in Marseille) is a versatile artist who has been active in the art world since the 1980s. Initially a painter, she has since explored a variety of artistic media, from ceramics and glass to painting and textiles, creating a rich and diverse body of work. At the Ariane Museum, this artist vividly presents the spirit and subtleties of her studio to the world. The space thus transforms into a stage, showcasing a range of ceramics, tracing paper, watercolors, textiles, and glassware that blend elements of popular culture and art history. Her vibrant world is revealed through a series of works employing rich hues, encompassing vivid colors and even transparent textures. In the exhibition titled "Simultaneous," Marie Ducat invites us to explore the sensual beauty of materials, all stemming from her spirit of free exploration.

The exhibition, based on the collection of CIRVA (International Centre for Glass and Fine Arts) in Marseille, France, re-examines this material with its millennia-long history of use from the perspective of contemporary artists. It's not merely a display of "glassware," but rather a focus on how artists and designers experiment, research, and create new art forms using glass.
