Presented by Emily Hadley Gallery x Suze Riley Studio, DIVE brings together works by 14 exceptional women artists, transforming the gallery space at 17 Midland Road, Bristol into an immersive, joyful summer show. Curated as a sensory plunge into the elemental, DIVE explores the liberating essence of water through a wide range of interpretations: from lidos and wild swims to the female form, the shared and solitary experience, community, introspection, and connection with nature. The exhibition is also a bold and inclusive representation of the female experience, expressed through painting, photography, sculpture and mixed media. Artists include Scottish Fine Art photographer Soo Burnell whose work is represented by galleries around the world. Her photograph, Marshall Street, is currently on display at the Design Museum in London. DIVE will also showcase the UK debut of San Francisco based artist and educator Jenifer K Wofford’s series of prints celebrating diver Victoria (Vicki) Manalo Draves, the first Asian American to win Olympic Gold, at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London. Wofford’s painted mural, VMD, is on display at SFMoMA. Exciting new works by established Bristol based artists including Annie Clay, Polly Luce, Jenni Stuart and Lucie Sheridan will also be on display. Women’s work is still underrepresented and undervalued in the art world. Sales of artworks produced by women accounted for only around 2% of the total sales at auction between 2008-2019. Researchers also found that work by female artists sells on average for 42% less than male artists. (Forbes) It is our goal through DIVE to contribute towards shifting this narrative by celebrating and elevating the work and sales of contemporary women artists whose work we love and admire. Wednesday Night Worlds Round #3 is an exciting cycling event that will take place at Trek Bicycle Midland in Midland, Texas. This event is part of the Wednesday Night Worlds series, which consists of three rounds of intense racing. Round #3 is scheduled to take place from August 9th to October 25th, offering participants the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete for the title. During Round #3, participants will engage in thrilling races, with one neutral lap followed by four race laps. It's important to note that on May 31st, August 2nd, and November 1st, the event will be a free-for-all, with no points or team tactics involved. It's all about riding hard and pushing your limits. Points will be awarded on a weekly basis, with first place receiving 5 points, second place receiving 3 points, third place receiving 2 points, and fourth place receiving 1 point. At the end of each round, individual points will be totaled to determine the round's winner. Moreover, the top 4 riders' individual points will be accumulated at the end of the year to determine the Team Series winner. In addition to the A race, there is also a B race category. The B race follows the same point system as the A race, and if a rider moves up to the A group, their points will move up as well for the team points. Once a rider moves to the A group, they cannot move back down. If a rider wins 3 races in a round, they will be moved up to the A group in the next round.
