Artist bio
Bonnie Grace is a multidisciplinary artist; working in ceramics, drawing, textiles, and printmaking. Her work is rooted in the domestic and the decorative, revolving around antiques. Bonnie uses continuous line drawings to start each project as a way to distance herself from the objects in order to dissect, explore, and translate them into something more. Working on paper allows for a sense of freedom , a space where ideas can be tested, reworked, and allowed to evolve. Her ceramics are a personal take on commemorative ware and traditional British ceramics. When working with clay, she struggles to think in 3D. From her line drawings, she uses slabs of clay as if they were paper, creating 2D yet 3D forms.
Outline
This workshop explores the world of ceramics, without the use of clay. Beginning with short, playful mark-making and drawing activities , using simple continuous line techniques to explore shapes, patterns, and textures. The main focus is the creation of collaged paper jugs. Using cut-out shapes, participants will build bold forms that play with the illusion of 3D. Through layering, colour, and composition, everyone will create an expressive paper maquette of a jug to take home.

Mae’r gweithdai hyn yn rhan o’r prosiect ‘Our voice through making, Ein llais trwy creu’ sy’n cael ei ariannu’n garedig gan yr Ashley Family Foundation gyda chefnogaeth ymarferol Oriel Mission. Gan ganolbwyntio’n gryf ar allgymorth, nod y gweithdai hyn yw cysylltu’r gymuned leol â dwy artist ifanc yng Nghymru, sef Bonnie Grace a Safiyyah Altaf.
Bywgraffiad yr artist Bonnie Grace
Mae Bonnie Grace yn artist amlddisgyblaethol sy’n gweithio ym maes cerameg, arlunio, tecstilau a chreu printiau. Mae ei gwaith yn canolbwyntio ar nodweddion domestig ac addurnol hen greiriau. Mae Bonnie yn dechrau pob prosiect drwy arlunio â llinell di-dor, mae hyn yn ffordd o ymbellhau oddi wrth y gwrthrychau er mwyn eu dadansoddi, eu harchwilio a’u troi nhw’n rhywbeth mwy. Mae gweithio ar bapur yn rhoi ymdeimlad o ryddid, yn rhoi lle i brofi syniadau, eu hail-weithio a’u datblygu. Mae ei gwaith cerameg yn ddehongliad personol o lestri coffa a cerameg traddodiadol Prydain. Wrth weithio gyda chlai, mae hi’n ei chael hi’n anodd meddwl yn 3D. Mae hi’n rhoi slabiau o glai fel paent ar ei lluniau llinell, gan greu ffurfiau 2D, sy’n 3D hefyd.
Crynodeb
Mae’r gweithdy hwn yn archwilio byd cerameg, heb ddefnyddio clai. Bydd yn dechrau gyda gweithgareddau byr, hwyliog yn creu marciau a lluniadu, a defnyddio technegau llinell parhaus syml i archwilio siapiau, patrymau a gweadau. Y prif ffocws yw creu jygiau wedi’u gorchuddio â gludwaith. Gan ddefnyddio siapiau wedi’u torri allan, bydd cyfranogwyr yn adeiladu ffurfiau mentrus sy’n chwarae gyda’r argraff o 3D. Drwy haenu, lliwio a chyfansoddi, bydd pawb yn creu model papur mynegiannol o jwg i fynd adref gyda nhw.
