to trace a path through the dark is a performance conceived by Belinda Whitta, that opens and embodies a conversation with Earth. Created using analogue photographic materials and processes to enable Earth the opportunity for self-representation. This is in the form of buried film, or earthly portraits. Using an analogue slide projector, these earthly portraits are projected alongside Belinda’s abstract and alternative haptic photography, as a conversation between the artist and this special body of land. The artist’s complex relationship with this specific place is informed by their settler colonial ancestors' impact upon the land and environment. Sustainable analogue photography has been a way to heal this colonial gaze, and practice reciprocity. The photographic elements within this performance challenge the capability of traditional landscape photography to communicate the complexities of these intergenerational relationships, and prompt the question, who are we to photographically represent earth? This performance is an immersive experience that will expand your sensory awareness of place, and deepen your appreciation of Earth. what you need to know: Please arrive on time so the performance can begin promptly. If you are late, once the performance begins you will not be let inside. This is to prevent distruption. This event is hosted at TwentySix Gallery, it is an accessible, wheel-chair friendly space. If you have any specific accessibility needs please feel free to contact Belinda at belinda.whitta@gmail.com. Please see other associated events: a field trip to the farm in the sky - evening of Monday 26th Septmeber (ticket by donation) artist talk & closing event - 2pm on Sunday 6th October (no booking required) Information Source: Belinda Whitta | eventbrite

OSC Suspension Sunday – July 28th The Ontario Suspension Collective hosts our next Suspension Sunday event in Hamilton, Ontario, on Sunday, September 29th! Until recently, our events have only been open to those registered to suspend with us, and only one or two friends that registered suspendees are invited to bring with them. However, at this next event, we are dedicating a two-hour time slot from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM for the public to come and watch us facilitate a couple of suspensions. If you're interested in body suspension and want to experience it firsthand, this will be a great opportunity. Learn more about the OSC, watch a couple of suspensions, and get a feel for who we are and why we do what we do. If you've been thinking about trying suspension for the first time or suspending with the OSC for the first time, attending our Open House might help you feel more comfortable about registering to suspend with us at one of our future events. We host Suspension Sundays every two to three months, so there will be plenty of opportunities to fly! Space during the OSC Open House is limited to 20 people. Please read through ourOSC Open House: Event Protocol & Code of Conduct. By purchasing a ticket, you agree to adhere to the Event Protocol & Code of Conduct.
