Sports & Fitness Golf
The Museum Lecture featuring Jasper Miners will delve into the essential groundwork required to authentically restore historically significant golf courses. Golf course architecture is currently experiencing a surge in interest, attracting a devoted following eager to uncover architecturally sound golf courses of all kinds. Recognizing the enduring value of work by Golden Age golf course architects amidst the modern design boom, many golf clubs are considering restoration projects. To execute such restorations effectively, thorough historical research is indispensable. This research involves uncovering valuable resources like photographs, maps, and construction drawings, or studying similar courses from the same era to understand the original architect's design intentions. Jasper Miners, a seasoned golf enthusiast and architecture researcher, will share insights from his extensive experience in investigating golf course architecture history. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the meticulous process involved in golf course restoration, renovation, and design decisions. The lecture will be held at The R&A World Golf Museum in St Andrews on June 13, 2024, starting at 6.30pm, with complimentary refreshments provided. Admission to this enlightening event is free for all interested visitors.

The exhibition features established and emerging artists from Aotearoa New Zealand, including: Felix Jackson, Mika Turnbull, Ali Pang / AAPPA-PAPPA, A.J Manaaki Hope, Belinda Whitta, Bonnie Wroe, Robbie Motion, Lindsey Horne, Waiāio Ngā Mōrehu Elkington, Amit Dutta, Arie Hellendoorn and Javier Murcia. Please join us for the opening day and free guided curator tour, 2pm Saturday 24th August. Get a behind the scenes account of how the artworks were made and hear what it was like for artists to become subjects. “In a regular group show, you wouldn’t normally collaborate this much with your fellow artists. With Artists on Artists, we’re sitting for each other, photographing one another, working together to create our pieces. It’s a strange feeling to have the tables turned. As an artist you’re so used to working with subjects, directing them, photographing them, painting them, observing them. Now you’re on the receiving end of that.” Lindsey Horne, Curator.
