Crew Leader: Hope McKee Max Size of Crew: 8 Hike Distance: 4 miles Elevation Gain: 1000 feet Hike Intensity: Moderate Work Intensity: Moderate Work Type: Curb log, cribbing construction. Project Information: We'll work on installing cribbing/curb logs at several spots where outer (critical) edge of the trail is eroding. We'll harvest logs from the surrounding woods, haul them to our worksite and cut them to size. Hiking information: Wahkeena Trail climbs fairly steeply for the first mile or so, then evens off. We'll hike up to 4 miles RT. You should plan to participate in this trail party for its entirety. For safety reasons, please do not arrive late or expect to be able to leave early. Event details: Detailed event information, including directions to the meeting location, will be provided to registrants via email 48 hours prior to the event. If you're volunteering for the first time, read this blog by a volunteer to know what to expect at your first trail party. What to bring: Plenty of water Snacks/lunch Work gloves if you have them (loaner gloves available) Any medications or emergency supplies you may need Sunscreen + insect repellent A pack to bring all of this with you on trail TKO provides all tools and personal protective equipment (hard hats, gloves, glasses) Need gear? What to wear: Boots (Please wear something sturdy that will protect your toes from sharp tools. Tennis shoes are not recommended. Open-toed shoes will not be allowed.) Attendees will be alerted 48 hours in advance. We'll work on installing cribbing/curb logs at several spots where outer (critical) edge of the trail is eroding. The beginning of the trail gains elevation quite swiftly. There are areas where the tread surface is quite rocky and unstable. You should plan to participate in this trail party for its entirety. For safety reasons, please do not arrive late or expect to be able to leave early.
