No safety nets, no laughing gnomes, no silly wigs… just the music of Bowie played hard and honestly. Formed in 2004 in Glasgow, Spiders On Mars is a six-piece band of musicians who are bonded by a love for the music of the 20th Century’s greatest musical icon. They play music from every era of David Bowie’s career. From The Man Who Sold The World and Space Oddity through the Ziggy years and onto The Thin White Duke. From the blue-eyed soul of Young Americans to the New Wave defining Ashes To Ashes. From the anthemic Heroes to the disco-funk of Let’s Dance. With over 40 classic hits and fan favourites to draw upon as well as special “full album” performances, Spiders On Mars are not a tribute band, Spiders On Mars are a rocking tribute to the music of David Bowie. Concerts Alternative
Stipe are recognised as the definitive tribute to R.E.M., the band from Athens, Georgia who are widely credited as pioneers of alternative rock, influencing countless bands who would follow, including Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Radiohead. R.E.M remain a model for young musicians everywhere: a band who always did things on their own terms, a band committed to doing the right thing for each other (such as splitting royalties equally), and never compromising on their artistic independence. They called it a day, on their own terms, in 2011, and have repeatedly ruled out ever reuniting. Having played to tens of thousands of people all over the UK and Europe, and not least to Michael Stipe himself on the ‘One Show’ (Michael described them as ‘awesome’), Stipe are a professional six-piece, who, as huge fans of the band, take the music (if not themselves) seriously. Iconic songs such as ‘Losing My Religion’ and ‘Everybody Hurts’ are recreated note-for-note, while Richard Southern’s studied vocal pays homage to Michael Stipe’s unique voice and enigmatic performance style. While all shows feature the familiar hits, every setlist is different. Deeper cuts from R.E.M.’s peerless back-catalogue, such as ‘Talk About The Passion’ or ‘Don’t’ Go Back To Rockville’ will delight fans of the band, and is an opportunity for any fan of great music to hear this timeless material played live with love and care. Whether you’re a long-time or more casual fan, or just someone who loves great music, Stipe are a must-see tribute band who capture the essence of R.E.M., one of the defining bands of our times. From Big Country 6th June - 8pm @ Charliesloft Tickets on sale on website www.charliesloft.com Mark Brzezicki , Simon Hough and Gil Allen have been bombarded with fans asking will they tour together...The answer is YES, due to demand the band will be performing an electric set under the banner FROM BIG COUNTRY THIS IS NOT A BIG COUNTRY TRIBUTE SHOW!THIS IS MARK, GIL & SIMON NOW KNOWN AS FROM BIG COUNTRY with some very special guests....The songs deserve to be played by as many people that want to play them. The songs were written for everybody to hear and enjoy, So sit back and enjoy the ride. Mark alongside Stuart, Tony and Bruce notched up over 20 hit singles and 8 studio albums.Mark Brzezicki and Tony Butler was asked to Join Big Country in 1981 by Stuart Adamson to play on the debut single "Harvest Home." They hit it off with Stuart, who invited them to join the band. The rest as they say is history.------------ The word Legend is used by many but the word Legendary has been given to Mark by his Peers. As well as being the foundation and backbone beat behind Big Country, Mark has held centre stage on the drum throne behind Eric Clapton, Midge Ure, The Cult, Procol Harum, Bruce Foxton and may more. He has sat and performed beside Roger Taylor of Queen and Phil Collins of Genesis at the Princes Trust Concert. He has performed on hundreds of sessions for artists including Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey of The Who, plus so many more, He is still regarded as one of the top drummers on the Planet. ----------------------------- This is a very special union of 4 of the finest musicians performing the ultimate electric homage to the Music of Big Country and the songs of the late great Stuart Adamson. You can expect songs that has never been played live before along with the classic Big Country hits we all know and love. The fourth member to join this amazing band is Guitar Genus Ken Nicol. Kens background is to say the least very varied from the realms of Steeleye Span and Magna Carta to Al Stewart. Ken is one of the finest guitar players around.Steeped in a stunning catalogue of proud and stirring hit songs such as ‘Fields of Fire’, ‘Chance’, ‘In A Big Country’ (which sold 2 million), ‘East Of Eden’ and their biggest UK hit ‘Look Away’, along with massive albums such ‘The Seer’, ‘Steeltown’, ‘Peace In Our Time’ and the triple Grammy –nominated, ‘The Crossing’, Mark and the boys continue to look beyond the next horizon. In a big country dreams stay with you, like a lover's voice fires the mountainside. Stay alive.Recent fan review from one of their Acoustic shows. Big Country's songs were such a huge part of my adolescence, lyrically I think Stuart was a poet and the band's music moves me profoundly, along with the rest of his body of work, which is his legacy and his gift to us all.I still remember where I was when I heard that he had died. The utter shock and disbelief I felt. So strange that someone I had never met could have such a profound effect on me....Then to last night, I have to admit to being a little sceptical, could this band do justice to the man and his music? The answer is a resounding yes. Simon's voice lent itself so well without trying to emulate the man himself. What a voice! Ken's playing was sublime, the musicianship was second to none, worth the journey alone, and their solo spots were incredible. For me it was Mark, and his reflections of Stuart, that made the night so special, the emotion in his voice and on his face as he recounted his memories and spoke so lovingly and respectfully of his friend.Thank you so much to everyone involved for putting this together. If you're going you're in for a treat.Lastly, what a great, respectful audience, such lovely people, so much love in the room it was tangible. I wish Stuart was here to see it and feel it. 20% off dinner in our restaurant below before the gig www.fpizza.co.uk www.charliesloft.com 14/16 Stewart Milngavie, G626BY Management reserve all rights Information Source: Charlies Loft | eventbrite
