I've got a terrible feeling about this show. Like somehow the whole thing is doomed. I have this recurring dream where I'm on stage, thousands of miles from home and the crowd has turned on me. There are thousands of them and they are all booing me and Sofia Vergara (from Modern Family) is there and so is Simon Cowell and he’s slamming his fist into a red buzzer and the sound splits the air like a gunshot and the ceiling rips open and confetti rains down like debris but the booing only gets louder and louder and louder and louder and then I wake up, and realise that all of that actually happened to me. This show has nothing to do with that story. I doubt I'll even mention it. As booed on America's Got Talent 'Offers nothing personal and almost no actual content.' ★★★★ Chortle (UK) 'Egotistical delusions.' ★★★★ The Scotsman (UK) 'Indescribable.' ★★★★ The List (UK) 'Disorderly.' ★★★★★ Isolated Nation 'When it was evening, he reclined at table with the twelve. And as they were eating, he said, “Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” And they were very sorrowful and began to say to him one after another, “Is it I, Lord?”' Matthew 26:20 Contains Coarse Language and Adult Themes. Are You There? is a dark comedy that takes place in the foyer of Autumn Dale Village over one long Friday. Autumn Dale is an aged care home and Pia is the energetic, loud, accidentally foul-mouthed director of first impressions. The foyer is her domain but the foyer also draws everybody to it, the fearful, the needy, the dying so directing first impressions is like herding cats. Pia, a captive audience chained to her spreadsheets and relentless work calls, keeps the residents amused and safe, while behind the scenes her personal life is descending into chaos. Her constant front-of-house companions for the last ten years have been 90-year-old Lauren and 75-year-old Colleen. Lauren spent her entire life with a deep sense of duty to God but now has been reduced to one questioning phrase. Is this a real question? Or simply a remnant of a thought, a last pulse from her slowly vanishing mind. Colleen, seemingly too young for aged care, became Autumn Dale’s problem after her mother, a resident, died and Colleen refused to leave. Pia's personal life is falling apart. Colleen's world is still ruled by her dead mother. Lauren devoted her life to faith, and now asks 'are you there?' But who cares because, thank God it’s Friday... A medieval faire is being set-up: Welcome to the small, very fictional, market town of Cross Roads; under the guidance of Doppelgangster’s resident historian, an expert in the Civil War of England and Normandy, 1138-1153. Then an arrow whizzes through the theatre and the fragile pretense of order descends into, well, you know, you read the title didn’t you? The performers are climbing a siege tower, crashing through castle walls, attempting necromancy, and someone (at least) will be tortured (strictly medieval methods). The Anarchy (1138-53) follow the dark forest path of the artists’ prior works:'To Die Will Be An Awfully Big Adventure' (Theatre Works, 2024),‘Doppelgangster’s TITANIC’, ‘Cold War’, and ‘Puntila/Matti - works which have generated walkouts, physical fights, cancellations by venues less open to risk than where ever this is playing now (TheatreWorks? Ok great!), along with cult followings and critical acclaim. It’s part shocking anticomedy, part historical folk-horror, part pagan ritual, and part pyschedelic experimental performance. Galloping in on hobby horses and centaurs and the hand-forged armory of the nerdiest of folk events, Doppelgangster drag the limited storytelling of modern Medieval/Renaissance Fairs and reconcile them with the darkest of pasts. Get ready to ignite your passion for dance again after a long summer break. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from these renowned spanish artists and connect with fellow dancers. Let's dance! 🔸 SCHEDULE - from Monday 15th to Thursday 18th September : 9.00h-9.30h : Arrival to FREEZONE / warm-up, for the participants of Lali's workshop 9.30h-12.30h : Workshop with LALI AYGUADE 13.00h-13.30h : Arrival to FREEZONE / warm-up, for the participants of Akira's workshop 13.30h-16.30h : Workshop with AKIRA YOSHIDA You can choose to register only for Lali's workshop, only for Akira's workshop, or for both workshops! About Lali Ayguadé's workshop : “I base my work on exploring the abstraction of dance or movement and I place it into a concrete situation which converts into something more conceptual. It enables me to emphasize feelings and emotions of people on stage. Movement may seem very abstract, but as humans, we are using something very tangible, which is our body. The link between the realness and the unrealistic side of things is fundamental in my investigation. As performers, we have the opportunity to play with this thin line where nothing is completely one or another, so I create it in the bodies, but also spatially. Our bodies end up being small in the space after all, but our imagination gives us the chance to go above the physical boundaries and make everything limitless. Our mind has a underestimate power and it’s a precious tool that makes everything you connect with your body become another path to research and reach virtuosity. But it takes time to achieve and actually, the concept time is also something I like to play with. I feel a lot of adrenaline whenever I see speed because as a performer, I can feel the effort and the complexity of the path that leads to it. But it has to be well managed so you do not disappear in it: to emphasize it, you need to bring the silence and the slowness in the body which is even more powerful and difficult to accept and achieve. As a creator and an artist, when you find a concept that you like to play with, it’s always important to play with its opposite. It will give you a wider range of opportunities and let your body and your mind showing the beauty of it through the most simple gesture.”About Akira Yoshida's workshop : UP, BUT DOWN, BUT FAST, BUT SLOW, BUT WILD, BUT SENSITIVEThe workshop begins with the transformation of the language of breaking into other forms, qualities and dynamics with a great focus on the distribution and transfer of weight, as well as on the use of body tension. It explores the use of weight as a physical element that allows for quick and light movement, while also examining the creative potential of the body parts that are independent of the ground level. the workshop also looks into how we can elevate so-called tricks into movements , by examining their creative makeup and transitions.after exploring the body, the focus moves into finding the way of using the physicality to develop theatricality and characters. 🔸 PRICES : with the EARLY BIRD discount (until June 30th included) : 170€ per workshopwith the General Admission (after June 30th) : 200€ per workshopFYI : If you wish to do both workshops, there is no special discount (except the EARLY BIRD discount that you can use for both workshops until June 30th included) 📍FREEZONE - Carrer de Santander 31, 08020 BARCELONA Information Source: FREEZONE Home for Creation, Movement & Performance | eventbrite

Back in her hometown, a woman stands in the ‘fifteen items or less’ line at the local Woolies. There, an old (now-hot) school friend, Kieran, mistakes her as Mia. And she doesn’t correct him. The thing is, Mia is her identical twin who recently died, leaving behind a son, Lucas. Everyone has a 20-something crisis. Hers is a choice between staying in Melbourne with an ambitious girlfriend, becoming the legal guardian of a five-year-old, or something entirely different… If Kieran can’t tell the difference, does it really matter? At the end of the day, where does she end and Mia begin? Draw Two, is a sharp, poignant and funny monologue about mistaken identities, Neapolitan ice cream, sunburnt shoulders, sharks in bathtubs and beating little kids at Uno. It’s also about how we come to terms with loss and sudden motherhood, and what it truly takes to care. Information Source: Theatre Works | eventbrite

In a society where winners are grinners and losers can please themselves, how can a born cynic find their place in the world? They go into showbiz. Drawn from her dodgy acting career touring outback towns via many a school hall, Cloudia and the Silver Linings present a selection of toe-tapping tunes and hanky-wringing ballads that celebrate human foibles and shed a light on the not-so-bright side of life. With a grim optimism in the face of doom, actor/songwriter Linda Stainton and her band of three demonstrate that while a positive attitude might win you friends and influence, true lasting joy comes from expecting the worst. Because what can be more deeply satisfying than being able to say, ‘I told you so?’ FAQs What time should I get there? At least 30 minutes before the show. Our performances start bang on time and it takes a hot second to welcome you into the building. Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? The Butterfly Club is a licensed venue. Accordingly, patrons under 18 are only allowed on premises in the company of a parent or legal guardian. What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event? We strongly encourage using public transport. The Butterfly Club is a short stroll from Flinders Street station and Melbourne Central, and an even shorter stroll from any tram that travels through Swanston or Collins Streets (get off at Town Hall). How can I contact the venue with any questions? Please call The Butterfly Club on 03 9663 8107 or reply to your email confirmation. What's the refund policy? All sales are final: exceptions are made in extraordinary circumstances at the Club's sole discretion. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No. Our team have a record of all attendees updated in real time and will be able to let you in whether you bring a printed copy of your ticket or not. Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends? Yes. It happens all the time. It's totally fine. Information Source: The Butterfly Club | eventbrite
