The Border Union Championship Dog Show, Kelso is a Kennel Club Crufts qualifier. The first Border Union Dog Show was held in 1975 and we celebrate the 50th Anniversary this year. We welcome spectators to enjoy watching the judging, shopping at our Trade Stands and having a bite to eat at one of the catering units. Entries are between 5000 and 6000 dogs, with classes for 116 different breeds over the two days. At Wilson’s Farm and Kitchen, if there’s one thing we take more seriously than producing the best quality beef and finding other fantastic local ingredients, it’s barbequing! Farmer Robert has even created his own completely unique one-of-a-kind barbeque known as ‘The Beast’. As the name suggests, the 25 Mile Barbeque event, wherever possible, uses meat and other ingredients sourced from within a 25 Mile radius of the Farm (if not from it). Meat is cooked on our BBQ or smoker and served with interesting fresh salads and locally made bread and followed by a delicious pudding. The event starts with an optional farm walk and Q & A with Farmer Robert and a visit to the garden to see where many of the ingredients from your meal are grown. This is a three course meal - a tasting platter, BBQ and pudding. The pre BBQ walk begins promptly at 12.30. This is not compulsary but if you are wishing to join in, please bring suitable outdoor footwear to wear for the tour. Anyone not joining in is welcome to wait in The Stables. The BBQ will begin at 1pm. We will either be outside or in the Hay shed - you won't be in the rain but it would be wise to bring a jumper. Taking bookings in advance with payment allows us to continue to confidently offer delicious meals with high quality ingredients and it means no food waste and the right number of our friendly team to look after you! Because of our rural location we cannot rely on passing trade to fill seats at our unique events! Although we appreciate that genuine emergencies do arise, please only book if you are fully intending to attend. If the event is sold out, we may be able to re-sell your tickets but if not, please be aware, as per Eventbrite policy, that we have the following cancellation terms in place for this event. If the cancellation is received more than 2 weeks prior to the booked event – 25% cancellation charge. If the cancellation is received between 2 weeks and 48 hours prior to the event – 50% cancellation charge. If the cancellation is received less than 48 hours in advance of the booked event – 100% cancellation charge. If no notification of the cancellation is received, no refund will be issued. We regret no refunds will be issued if the Customer is late for an event. WFK will only cancel events due to circumstances beyond our control, and in the unlikely event this does happen, we would offer an alternative date or a full refund. This interactive workshop aims to assist youth workers and volunteers with the implementation of a child protection policy and measures to consider when working with young people and adults that keep everyone safe from harm. Learning Outcomes Be aware of your own organisation’s child protection policies and procedures. (Participants are to read these prior to the session starting.) Be alert to indicators of concern in children and young people you come into contact with. Be able to respond to concerns you have about a child.
