This specialized program recognizes that children are not miniature versions of adults. Their unique bone structure, muscles, and joints make them prone to specific injuries that require specialized knowledge for effective management. As a coach or parent, your child's well-being is of the utmost importance. However, determining the severity of a child's injury can be challenging. Should they continue training and playing? Could further activity worsen their condition or lead to future health complications? The Kendal Physio & Well-being Centre in Kirkland, Kendal provides an opportunity to gain insight into these concerns. By attending our informative evening talk, you will gain the confidence to identify when expert assistance is necessary and learn how you can support your active kids in their journey back to their favorite sports. This educational event is limited to 25 attendees, so secure your place now for a comprehensive understanding of how to best care for and guide your child's safe return to sports.

Lakeland Arts’ much-loved art collection includes paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture ranging from the 1700’s to the present. In our refreshed collection galleries discover the stories of our extraordinary collection pieces and the people connected to them. Historic artists and subjects will be shown alongside works from modern and contemporary eras, telling a diverse story of people; their lived experiences, conflicts and shared commonalities. Portrait Galleries Contemporary artists, such as Kendal-based artist Lela Harris have been invited to exhibit alongside the Abbot Hall collection. Highlights from the collection include works by George Romney, Joan Eardley, Lucian Freud, Hilde Goldschmidt, Victor Pasmore, Celia Paul, Kurt Schwitters, Stanley Spencer and Charmaine Watkiss. You’ll be able to see The Great Picture which depicts the accomplishments and family history of Lady Anne Clifford (1590-1676). Painted during the English Civil War, it is a rare celebration of the life of a woman from that period. Through a combination of portraits, words and symbols it represents Anne’s fight for her rights, her intelligence and her talent as a writer. Art Herbarium Within the collection galleries you will also find the Art Herbarium, a space to explore plant, mineral and animal forms. Drawings and paintings range from the immaculate ‘organic vision’ of John Ruskin, to the illuminated letters of Cumbrian artist, Percy Kelly. The collection galleries are situated on the main floor of Abbot Hall. Our collection displays are included with gallery admission. Members go free. Other concessions available.

Join the Social Run - Kendal on February 25th, 2024, held at Scout Scar Car Park in Kendal. This monthly event is perfect for those who enjoy a social run in a scenic setting. The run will commence at 6:45pm, covering a distance of 4 miles on predominantly off-road trails. For those looking for an additional challenge, there is an optional extra 2-mile loop to Cunswick Scar. The routes will be emailed out prior to the event, so please remember to check your junk folder. All levels of runners are welcome, and regular stops will be made to regroup. To ensure your safety and comfort, it is recommended to bring a head torch, trail shoes, and waterproofs. It's important to note that this run is organized and led by volunteers, and neither the community, organizers, nor hosts assume any responsibility for accidents or injuries that may occur.
