L'exposition inauguraleClay Apenouvon, « NOIRTOTAL »12 mai - 30 juillet 2023 Pour son ouverture, la Galerie 110 Véronique Rieffel présente « NOIRTOTAL », une exposition personnelle de l’artiste togolais Clay Apenouvon jusqu'au 30 juillet 2023. Cette exposition rassemblera à la fois des pièces iconiques d’une œuvre construite depuis plusieurs années autour de ses deux matériaux de prédilection : le film plastique noir et la couverture de survie à la symbolique à la fois politique et écologique. Celui que l’on appelle le « Soulages ou le Christo africain », présentera également des œuvres inédites, entre abstraction et figuration, explorant la métaphore de l’artiste boxeur inspirée par la figure légendaire de Mohamed Ali. Clay Apenouvon est né en 1970 à Lomé au Togo. Enfant, il entretient une relation conflictuelle avec l’institution scolaire. Loin des contraintes imposées par le cadre de l’école, il construit, crée et invente. Ainsi dès le plus jeune âge, c’est dans la créativité que l’artiste trouve la source de son épanouissement. Fasciné par le pouvoir que l’image peut exercer sur l’humain et maîtrisant les techniques de la peinture et du dessin, il affirme sa volonté de donner à sa création une portée plus grande et de s’accomplir en tant qu’artiste.

Ce dispositif pédagogique d’envergure s’adresse aux étudiantes et étudiants formés à l’École des Arts Décoratifs, ainsi qu’aux élèves de La Renverse, programme dédié aux talents éloignés des cursus académiques classiques. Le NID s’organisera en deux volets complémentaires : renforcer la place et la pratique du dessin dans l’enseignement dès la première année d’intégration à l’École et déclencher des vocations autour du dessin. Cette Chaire déploiera chaque année un cycle de découverte et de création à Paris et hors-les-murs, des bourses d’études et de production du projet diplômant, ainsi qu’un programme de mentorat professionnalisant. La coordination scientifique et artistique sera assurée par Alexandra Fau, commissaire d’exposition indépendante, critique d’art et enseignante en histoire de l’art. « Plus de 250 ans après la création de l’École des Arts Décoratifs comme école de dessin gratuite, le NID, Chaire des Nouveaux Imaginaires du Dessin, a pour vocation de consolider et de développer cette pratique fondatrice au sein de la pédagogie. Grâce au mécénat de la maison Hermès, avec laquelle nous partageons des valeurs de transmission et de savoir-faire, nous avons les moyens de mettre en œuvre un ambitieux programme éducatif, qui viendra aussi en appui d’une politique d’ouverture sociale, avec un important volet de bourses. Catalyseur d’une pédagogie augmentée et de soutiens transformateurs dans le champ du dessin, le NID est pensé pour les étudiantes et étudiants comme un foyer incubateur d’expression à venir pour un monde en transition.» - Emmanuel Tibloux, directeur de l’École des Arts Décoratifs « Dessiner, c'est panser » : Une première année sous le signe du soin « Dès la rentrée de septembre 2023, l’École inaugure un nouveau chapitre de sa relation historique au dessin, en lançant grâce au mécénat de la maison Hermès, le NID, Chaire des Nouveaux Imaginaires du Dessin, dont le nom suggère à la fois un refuge et de multiples échappées. Cette première année est placée sous le signe de l’empathie et de l’attention à l’Autre. Comment le dessin est-il en mesure de panser les plaies, de proposer une réécriture de soi, de se réconcilier avec l’histoire ou encore de restaurer une médiation (réparer le lien de l’homme à la nature) ? Ce nouvel élan pédagogique conforte l’importance d’un médium léger, agile et libre, capable d’accompagner les pensées vagabondes, les expérimentations ou les aspects plus techniques. Dès la première année, les étudiant·es pourront se saisir de ce formidable outil de connaissance et d’émancipation qui innerve tous les champs de la création. Ils seront encouragés à remplir des carnets d’annotations de « pensées plumes » et à développer de nombreuses applications. La Chaire mobilise les talents des enseignant·es de l’École, et d’un grand nombre de créateurs et professionnels invités, venus investir toutes les potentialités d’un médium qui, par ses multiples approches, permet d’accompagner le décloisonnement que notre époque appelle. Le NID redonne aussi au dessin une valeur d’usage qu’il a perdue ces dernières années, avec la célébration de son autonomie par le milieu de l’art contemporain. Son histoire liée à une utilité sociale ou technique ouvre un autre pan de l’histoire visuelle avec quelques points aveugles qui restent à explorer. » - Alexandra Fau, Coordinatrice scientifique du NID, Chaire des Nouveaux Imaginaires du Dessin Un dispositif d'envergure Provoquer les vocations, marquer les parcours créatifs Les 80 nouveaux étudiant·es de 1ère année de l’École des Arts Décoratifs Ce dispositif pédagogique d’envergure s’adresse aux 80 nouveaux étudiantes et étudiants de l’École des Arts Décoratifs, qui rejoignent l'École pour leur première année. Un ambitieux workshop et un voyage d’étude leur sont proposés dès le premier mois de la rentrée. Au programme de ces 3 semaines fédérant la nouvelle génération d’étudiant·es entrante : 1 semaine d’apprentissages et conférences, 1 semaine de voyage d’étude et création, 1 semaine de mise en scène de leurs dessins en vue de l’exposition finale du workshop. Le voyage d'étude, qui se déroulera du 18 au 21 septembre, permettra aux étudiant·es de s'imprégner des territoires oubliés du Nord de la France, des archives historiques de métiers particulièrement pénibles (avec le centre historique minier), de découvrir la Villa Cavrois, les collections du Louvre Lens, du Cateau-Cambresis ou de Valenciennes, du Frac Picardie... Tout au long de l’année, les étudiant·es profiteront par ailleurs de 4 nouveaux programmes d’enseignement et d’apprentissage du dessin et bénéficieront de l’expertise d’un nouvel enseignant en dessin à l’année, comme de plus de 30 artistes invités au long de l’année. 15 jeunes talents de La Renverse Le NID s’adresse aussi aux élèves de La Renverse, programme dédié aux talents éloignés des cursus académiques classiques. Imaginée par les Ateliers Médicis et l'École des Arts Décoratifs, La Renverse est une formation artistique d’une année qui s’adresse à des jeunes créatif·ves âgé·es de 18 à 25 ans, issu·es de Seine-Saint-Denis ou des départements limitrophes, passionné·es par la création, en particulier par la photo, la vidéo, la mode, le dessin ou encore le design. Deux semaines de workshop seront dédiées, grâce au NID, au medium dessin. La première semaine leur offrira une formation aux fondamentaux du dessin contemporain (morphologie, typographie, architecture, mode) avec des artistes spécialisés. La deuxième semaine leur permettra d'élaborer collectivement une œuvre en grand format dont l'exposition-restitution aura lieu aux Magasins Généraux à Pantin. Soutenir et accompagner les nouveaux talents À partir de la deuxième année sont également sont également mis en place d'importants dispositifs de soutien : 3 nouvelles bourses au mérite par an, de 4 000 euros chacune, pour 12 jeunes talents du dessin soutenus sur critères sociaux tout au long de leur scolarité avec un 1 mentorat professionnalisant ; 3 bourses d’excellence par an, de 1 000 euros chacune, pour 9 projets de diplômes incarnant le renouveau du dessin, soutenus par le NID.
