Junetsuki is a series of summer festivals held in various shrines and temples throughout the prefecture during the month of July (June on the old calendar), each held on a day designated by the shrine or temple itself. Junggetsu-do has a long history and continues to be a successful seasonal event in Kagoshima during the summer. In the grounds of the shrines and temples, lanterns made of sticks and Japanese paper are strung along rope nets with various illustrations and messages on them. There are also many shops along the roadside. These shops, the atmosphere of the shrines and temples, and the lanterns together create a very dreamy, magical atmosphere. In Kagoshima City, these festivals take place almost every evening in July and continue until the end of the month. Please enjoy "Summer in Kagoshima" at the Junggetsu-do Lantern Festival! The "Terikuni Shrine Junggetsu Festival" held on July 15th and 16th every year is one of the largest June festivals in Kagoshima Prefecture.

The Kinko Bay Fireworks Festival is the largest fireworks festival in Kagoshima, with more than 15,000 fireworks, and the Kyushu 2-foot-tama fireworks. The background music is Japanese classical music and world-famous piano music. Along with the fireworks festival, there are also fun temple fairs, interesting recreational projects, and many seasonal goods and snacks. The Hanano Shrine Autumn Festival is held every year on the autumnal equinox, and in 2025 it will be held on Tuesday, September 23rd. Various traditional performing arts are showcased, including gagaku performances and the Ohira Lion Dance, a designated intangible folk cultural asset of Kagoshima City. The area is also filled with stalls offering opportunities to enjoy food and shopping.

There will be wonderful performances such as traditional dances, folk music instruments, and choral performances from various Asian countries and regions. Central Park will also host activities such as "Asian Stage," "Asian Food Stalls," and "Asian Experience Stalls."

The Ohara Festival, which began in 1949, was originally held to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Kagoshima City Government. Held every November 2nd and 3rd, the Ohara Festival has become a major festival in northern Kyushu, attracting 200,000 visitors each year. The highlight of the festival is the dance "So-odori" performed by 20,000 dancers to Kagoshima's representative folk songs "Ohara-bushi", "Kagoshima Hanya-bushi" and "Shibuya Ondo". In addition to these dance performances, there are also traditional art performances and the lively dance "Ohara 21".
