SQUARE PEGS AND ROUND HOLES: Bridging Linear AND Circular Thinking
About the Workshop:
Join Brenda Morrison and Kim Hudson for a retreat to consider deeply the ways we approach organizational and systemic challenges. Let’s explores dynamic ways towards collaborative, creative, and meaningful work, while taking time for restorative activities.
Drawing from the principles in Kim’s book
The Bridge: Connecting the Powers of Linear and Circular Thinking
, and Brenda’s experience at the junction of social psychology, restorative justice and responsive regulation, we will develop a framework for understanding challenges and charting a course forward, grounded in two ways of thinking.
Our current challenges of implementing policies of equity, diversity, inclusion; integrating different ways of knowing; and questioning our lived experience of democracy, will be contemplated. We will ground this work in our own wellness, learning to nurture the best in ourselves and our communities of care.
This is a residential retreat at Rivendell Retreat Centre, 600 Rivendell Drive, Bowen Island (a short ferry ride from Vancouver via Horseshoe Bay terminal). Set in the serene backdrop of Bowen Island, this workshop invites you to learn a framework for linear and circular thinking, and, learn from each other how we are and imagine we could apply this insight to our work. Together, we will engage in meaningful discussions and hands-on exercises, in a way that is engaging, restorative, and fun.
Who Should Attend:
This is a chance to recharge in the beautiful natural setting of Bowen Island and Rivendell Retreat Centre. Together we will relax, reconnect to what matters individually and collectively, and co-imagine ways to move forward with two understandings of the way we think. Professionals (practitioners to policy analysist) in justice, health, education, and other fields seeking interactive, inclusive, and creative approaches to bridging linear and circular thinking will find inspiration.
