This is a long-standing fireworks festival in Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, which began in 1948 (Showa 23). With the vast natural scenery of Lake Sagami as the background, about 4,000 fireworks light up the night sky. There are a variety of fireworks, including starlight fireworks, 13.5-inch fireworks, 13.5-inch fireworks, and No. 8 fireworks, which are characterized by their majestic momentum and beautiful composition. The Umizo summer festival, which has been handed down in Sagamihara since the end of the Edo period, is said to be prayed to Ushito Tenno at Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto for a good harvest and the safety of the family. Around Sunday evening, a large number of local mikoshi and floats gather from various towns, and the mikoshi ferry and float parade begins. At nightfall, the magical sight of the mikoshi lanterns being lit up is a must-see.
